Diamond Stitching (Deep Quilting). . . .

Diamond Stitching (also referred to as Deep Quilting) is the technique in which the surface materials are held together.

Designed to create and plumped, soft and smooth finish, Diamond Stitching can vary in the exact style and pattern used. Many manufacturers will have several designs of Diamond Stitching and each will vary slightly.

Mattresses will (usually) have fibres and layers of materials directly under the surface to create a comfortable feel. These fibres and materials require holding together to prevent movement over time (a body moving on the surface night after night can shift the location of the fibres). There are several ways of achieving this, Tufting and Diamond Stitching/Deep Quilting are the most common.

In the image below, you will see the Dunlopillo Royal Sovereign complete with Diamond Stitching. This particular mattress has a shallow quilted surface, but the Diamond Stitching technique is clearly visible.
