Side Stitching is the way in which the side of a mattress is finished.

A traditional process, the Side Stitching technique applied by many high-end companies, is a highly-skilled profession and takes time and a great deal of experience to perfect. The technique involves passing a needle through the side of a mattress right the way through to the horizontal surfaces for additional strength and stability. This technique is normally the reserve of expensive, high-end mattresses.

Another technique applied more commonly in mid-range mattresses, is to simply attach the stitching to the spring unit in the mattress. Other manufacturers may simply use a material on the side of the mattress which appears to be side stitched, but actually is not.
