Product Description

The Harrison Beds Gold 2000 Mattress is part of the Express Collection, one of the best selling ranges by this World famous brand. The Gold 2000 boasts a superb spring unit, with two spring systems working in unison to offer perfect support and comfort. This mattress also has a deep layer of natural fillings in the surface to offer sumptuous comfort and excellent support.

The Gold 2000 has been designed to not only offer comfort and support, but it is also designed so that it can be compression packed and therefore delivered rolled up. The Gold has the excellent Revolution Pocket Spring system at it's core, which sees a spring within a spring. The larger, outer pocket spring offers delicate and refined support to boost the comfort this mattress offers. The smaller, firmer inner spring works hard to offer support where required, and due to the shorter nature of this spring, it will only work when the body sinks in that little bit further, ensuring the heavier parts of the body receive the support required. As well as the Revolution Spring, there is the Posturfil Spring System that is a layer of mini pocket springs, designed to more accurately mirror the contours of the body and improve the support on offer. This smaller layer of springs will also relieve the stress on the Revolution springs underneath.

The Gold 2000 has the unique Harrison Bed's Warmside Coolside technology. This brilliant feature sees one sleeping surface finished with Wool, offering a warmer sleeping surface during colder months. This Wool is grown on the Harrison's farm, which ensures quality and excellent durability. The flip side of this mattress is designed for the warmer months, and is a deep pad of Cotton blend.

The Gold 2000 has 2 rows of side stitched borders, which increases the strength of the side walls and also increases the size of the comfortable sleeping surface as it prevents roll off and roll together. There are also handles for easy movement and breather vents to further improve the comfortable heat and moisture management of the mattress.

Glossary

  • Breathability

Mattresses need to breathe. With the amount of fillings and areas of space within a mattress, they can quickly hold heat and moisture. Over time this can influence the way a mattress behaves and also effect the life span of a mattress.

Manufacturers have developed different ways of tackling the problem of Breathability in mattresses. Some brands have used vents to allow air to pass through the mattress. Some brands use state-of-the-art materials to cover the mattress, such as Coolmax or Outlast. Memory Foam has a reputation of storing heat and moisture, as foam requires heat to soften up.Memory Foam brands have overcome this problem by applying Coolmax and Outlast, they also use Open Cell technology. This technique is to simply allow the foam to settle with larger spaces between the foam cells. This allows heat and moisture to move freely without getting trapped.

Some mattresses are created in such a way that they do not require any additional Breathability methods. These mattresses are generally the entry level mattresses with Open Coil spring units and not a great deal of fillings.

  • Breather Vent

    See Vents.

  • Cashmere

A luxury filling, Cashmere Wool is normally the reserve of very high quality mattresses. A natural material that is very comfortable and very durable.

  • Orthopaedic

Orthopaedic mattresses are usually the firmest mattresses on the market. A common mistake made by those with back pain, is to assume that a firm Orthopaedic mattress will be the solution. Personal comfort and a correct diagnosis of the cause of the pain should always be saught before purchasing an Orthopaedic mattress.

Many brands have 'Ortho' mattresses. Terms used include 'Backcare' or 'Orthocare' and the theme is generally to produce a firmer feeling mattress. The idea is to create a mattress that the body can rest on without sinking in and bending the spine, causing pressure to build up. However, if a lighter person lays on a firmer mattress, they will find the spine will not align correctly as the loaded parts of the body (shoulders, hips etc) are not sitting correctly. For more information on the causes of back pain, click here or read about another solution in the Zoning description.

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Tufted

Tufting is a traditional and highly successful way of finishing a mattress surface. The end result makes the mattress appear to have dimples, or buttons dipping into the surface. This technique is designed to hold the surface materials together and to fix them to the core of the mattress to prevent the layers moving over time. A modern method is Spiral Tufting, which involves fixing the surface to the fillings and spring unit.

The actual tuft is usually made from a cotton felt material and is fastened by a cotton or wool chord to the spring unit, in most cases. A tufted mattress will normally have a firmer surface than a non-tufted/quilted surface. The reason for this is that the Tufting process actually holds the surface material and underlying fibre layers tightly together. This will create a tighter, firmer feel than a quilted mattress.

  • Tufts

This is the dimple like way of binding the various layers of the mattress together. A cord is fasted from the bottom of the mattress to the top, and held tightly in place.

  • Turn / No Turn

Some mattresses require turning over, to aid even settlement. Others do not require turning, but will still require rotating.

  • Vents

The small metal mesh on the side of the mattress to aid moisture and heat management.
