Product Description

THIS ITEM IS NOW SOLD OUT AND DISCONTINUED

The Hypnos Hazel Deluxe mattress has had a recent facelift, a newer source of wool and a new cooling cover material make this Hypnos mattress even better than it's hugely popular predecessor. The Natural Comfort Hazel Deluxe mattress is a wonderfully comfortable and supportive mattress, part of the Natural Comfort Collection and one of our more popular mattresses. It is designed to offer a luxurious feel without compromising on support. This is achieved through the use of the excellent and innovative Hypnos Pocket Spring unit, different to other brands, as well as layer upon layer of deep, natural fillings.

Hypnos Hazel Deluxe Specifications

The Hazel Deluxe mattress has been developed using the latest Hypnos developments, but this mattress still retains the traditional, handmade nature of their World famous beds. The Hazel Deluxe has a Pocket Spring system at its core. These springs work like pistons to move up and down as weight is applied, working completely independently from each other, not affecting surrounding springs. The beauty of this method of springing is that each spring can work for a very small, precise area of the body, resulting in an accurate and pressure-relieving level of support, preventing aches and pains from forming overnight.

Hypnos has developed a method of making the spring adapt to the varying loads placed upon it – these are known as ReActive springs, and the Hazel Deluxe can respond to 8 levels of weight, therefore having 8 levels of firmness on offer. Essentially, the more weight that is applied to a Hypnos spring, the more supportive it will become. This clever and very simple technique means that a spring will provide the precise level of support needed, exactly where it is needed. The outcome of this is truly incredible and has stopped the requirement for some people to compromise on a mattress. Gone are the days of people who need more support opting for a firmer mattress. If you want a medium mattress - have one, you'll still get the support required where it is needed, but you will no longer have to have a mattress you find anything other than perfect for you!

The higher up you look in a given Hypnos range, the more refinement the springs will have. This includes the addition of an 'UltraSens' spring at the top of a range, which has very refined levels of support indeed. This Hypnos mattress is Zoned, so the lumbar region is packed with a higher density of springs than the surrounding areas.

Please Note: Hypnos does not reveal the total spring count of their mattresses.

As the name would suggest, mattresses in the Natural Comfort Collection boast nothing but natural fillings. This is a key aspect of Hypnos mattresses in general, but this new range of mattresses feature some wonderfully natural, deep and luxurious layers of fillings. This mattress has a deep layer of 800gsm New Zealand Wool and a 4000gsm bonded Wool layer to provide a sumptuous and naturally contour hugging surface layer, sumptuously comfortable and luxurious. These two hand-applied layers of Wool are applied to work together to offer soft, comfortable support. Wool is naturally repellent of dust mites and bed bugs and is also exceptionally good at thermoregulation and moisture management.

The cover material featured on this mattress is a high quality, Belgian Damask. This extraordinary fabric will remain cool, dry and also acts to encourage healthier sleep, it is also silky smooth and luxurious to the touch. The Hazel Deluxe has air vents too, aiding moisture and heat management. Hypnos has evolved this cover material with the introduction of 37.5Deg Technology, a new method of helping the bed remain cool. This new development sees an infusion of tiny particles of minerals. These minerals draw away heat and moisture when you're too warm, aiming to maintain the ideal temperature of 37.5 degrees C.

This mattress has 2 rows of side stitched borders, which act to increase the strength of the sidewalls of the mattress. This is particularly beneficial in smaller sized mattresses, and actually increases the comfortable sleeping surface of a Double mattress by up to 10%, as you can sleep right up to the edge without fear of roll-off.

As a turnable mattress, this Hypnos mattress has handles for easy movement when required and will need rotating (spinning around) and turning (flipping over) once per season, although we recommend that this is done more often in the first few weeks after delivery to ensure even settlement. Headboard & base sold separately.

Who Is This Mattress Best Suited For?

The Hazel is a supremely luxurious mattress, and so it is ideal for anyone wanting a comfortable night's sleep, similar to those in luxury hotels. This mattress does still provide good support but is designed to offer comfort above all else.

    Good, but strong odour
It is a good mattress, but there was a strong odour for the first few nights, which was a bit off-putting. That went away quite quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions -
1 Answer

How many springs are in the kingsize?

Hypnos do not reveal their spring counts, as their springs are clever, but quite large. We do know that they total in the thousands though.

Glossary

  • Breathability

Mattresses need to breathe. With the amount of fillings and areas of space within a mattress, they can quickly hold heat and moisture. Over time this can influence the way a mattress behaves and also effect the life span of a mattress.

Manufacturers have developed different ways of tackling the problem of Breathability in mattresses. Some brands have used vents to allow air to pass through the mattress. Some brands use state-of-the-art materials to cover the mattress, such as Coolmax or Outlast. Memory Foam has a reputation of storing heat and moisture, as foam requires heat to soften up.Memory Foam brands have overcome this problem by applying Coolmax and Outlast, they also use Open Cell technology. This technique is to simply allow the foam to settle with larger spaces between the foam cells. This allows heat and moisture to move freely without getting trapped.

Some mattresses are created in such a way that they do not require any additional Breathability methods. These mattresses are generally the entry level mattresses with Open Coil spring units and not a great deal of fillings.

  • Firmness

MyNextMattress is developing a new and unique solution to the Firmness scale accuracy. Not seen anywhere else in the World, we will be measuring the Firmness of all our mattresses precisely and in detail.

We are the only company in the Country that will actually measure the Firmness of a mattress and give a grading out of 10. We are always aware that choosing your next mattress can be a difficult and time consuming process, therefore we strive to give as much information as possible on every mattress we sell.

The way our system works is by applying weight to a mattress. We will apply weight gradually and measure the amount the mattress dips. The more weight, the more the mattress will 'sink'. We would then measure the distance the mattress dips and plot these measurements (weight and distance) on a graph. This graph can then be used to tell us the Firmness category the mattress fits into, 7 out of 10 for instance.

Our Firmness Device provides a central rod which we apply weights to, on the bottom end there is a disc which pushes into the mattress. The top of this rod supports the weights and will sink according to the 'give' in a mattress. We measure from this point.

As a result of this unique technique, it will be possible for you to shop by the firmness of a mattress, this is not possible anywhere else.

  • Orthopaedic

Orthopaedic mattresses are usually the firmest mattresses on the market. A common mistake made by those with back pain, is to assume that a firm Orthopaedic mattress will be the solution. Personal comfort and a correct diagnosis of the cause of the pain should always be saught before purchasing an Orthopaedic mattress.

Many brands have 'Ortho' mattresses. Terms used include 'Backcare' or 'Orthocare' and the theme is generally to produce a firmer feeling mattress. The idea is to create a mattress that the body can rest on without sinking in and bending the spine, causing pressure to build up. However, if a lighter person lays on a firmer mattress, they will find the spine will not align correctly as the loaded parts of the body (shoulders, hips etc) are not sitting correctly. For more information on the causes of back pain, click here or read about another solution in the Zoning description.

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.
