The Hypnos Regency Clarence Supreme is the all-new, superb addition to the Regency Collection, a range of beds long established as the finest in the World. This new range-topping mattress deserves its place at the head of this collection, boasting details and specifications that other brands can only dream of achieving.

The Clarence Supreme features the famous Hypnos UltraSens Spring System. A high spring count Pocket Spring unit, but developed by Hypnos to offer a precise and instant amount of support, exactly where required. A conventional pocket spring will compress according to the thickness of the wire, therefore the feel of the spring is biased towards the support or comfort. With the UltraSens system, the spring has different pressure thresholds, and according to the weight applied, the spring will move through these thresholds and will become firmer the more it compresses. The result is simple; the more pressure applied - the firmer it gets. This simple technique is unique to Hypnos and results in perfect, orthopaedic support, without compromising on comfort. The Regency Clarence has a 17 Turn spring, meaning there are 17 different pressure-responsive thresholds.

The deep layers of hand-applied natural fillings in this mattress include British Lambs Wool, Cotton and Alpaca. The Clarence Supreme also has a stunningly comfortable and luxurious layer of Pashmina. This is the only Hypnos mattress with such a layer and underlines the Clarence Supreme's position as the top of the range mattress. These luxury layers are applied by hand to ensure the comfort is exquisite and the durability excellent. These natural fillings are breathable and remain cool and comfortable throughout the night, as well as remaining even and consistent throughout the mattress' long life.

This Regency mattress has the sleeping surfaces' (turnable mattress) are bound to the core of the mattress by tufts. This process requires a great deal of skill and experience to perfect, and Hypnos are World leaders. The method sees a chord bind under tension through the mattress and capped on the surfaces. This is the button-like feature on the sleeping surfaces. This process increases the durability of the mattress, as well as fine-tuning its firmness.

The Clarence Supreme mattress also boasts chrome breather vents all sides, further enhancing the breathable nature of the mattress offered by the fibres used in the mattress. These vents allow the air to move freely, maintaining a comfortable temperature and moisture level throughout the night. The cover material is a wonderfully sumptuous Belgian Damask, which is infused with Bamboo and Silver, yet further enhancing the heat and moisture management properties of this Hypnos bed.

We deliver the Hypnos Hampton bed or mattress to the room of choice with our 2-man crew - Free! We also carry this mattress and most base options in stock as often as possible.

Glossary

  • Fibre Most mattresses will have layers of fillings under the surface to increase comfort and separate the spring units from the surface. The most common fillings used in mattresses are cotton, wool and polyester among others. Mattresses require fillings to create a soft surface tension on which to sleep. The fillings normally compliment the internal spring unit by adding comfort to the support offered (by the spring unit) The tension of the surface fillings can be tuned by the density in which they are packed as well as by the method in which they are bound together. Tufting results in a slightly firmer feel than quilting.
  • Hideaway (Hypnos)

Hypnos have created the ingenious Hideaway bed base. A design that gives you the maximum amount of storage space from the base, whilst remaining completely hidden.

  • Hypoallergenic

Put simply, Hypoallergenic materials do not cause the amount of irritation that non-hypoallergenic materials can. Hypoallergenic materials can still cause irritation in some cases, the chances of this are reduced greatly. People with severe allergies and asthma may still have problems with items called hypoallergenic, but the risk is greatly reduced.

Hypoallergenic materials do not omit the same particles and fibres as other non-hypoallergenic materials. These particles are to blame for causing irritation and discomfort and in some cases the irritation can be dangerous. The Hypoallergenic properties of these materials can be created by number of techniques. Some materials (Memory Foam or Latex) are naturally hypoallergenic, others have been chemically treated.

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Tufted

Tufting is a traditional and highly successful way of finishing a mattress surface. The end result makes the mattress appear to have dimples, or buttons dipping into the surface. This technique is designed to hold the surface materials together and to fix them to the core of the mattress to prevent the layers moving over time. A modern method is Spiral Tufting, which involves fixing the surface to the fillings and spring unit.

The actual tuft is usually made from a cotton felt material and is fastened by a cotton or wool chord to the spring unit, in most cases. A tufted mattress will normally have a firmer surface than a non-tufted/quilted surface. The reason for this is that the Tufting process actually holds the surface material and underlying fibre layers tightly together. This will create a tighter, firmer feel than a quilted mattress.

  • Turn / No Turn

Some mattresses require turning over, to aid even settlement. Others do not require turning, but will still require rotating.

  • UltraSens (Hypnos)

Similar to the ReActive spring, but further refined. The UltraSens has more Turns (see above) and has a slightly softer finish on the extreme ends of the spring.
