Product Description

The Hypnos Trio Guest Bed is a versatile, flexible guest bed designed from the highest standards of Hypnos. It features comfort, durability and practicality while not compromising on style or design. The trio guest post is an ingenious design, as while it takes the space of one single bed, you can pull out a single from the bottom that can pop up and combine to make a Kingsize or a Super Kingsize! This bed is available in a choice of comfortable mattress specifications for optimum comfort. You can opt for Pocket Sprung or Open Coil mattresses, or a combination. The Pocket Sprung mattresses are the superior specification, whereas the Open Coil mattresses are more affordable and suitable for those on a budget or not looking for regular use from the bed.

What’s The Difference Between Pocket Springs and Open Coil Springs?

The Pocket Springs work independently from on another to offer excellent support, moving to conform to the contours of the body without affecting surrounding springs. The Open Coil springs share the movement across the entire spring system. This design is durable and efficient, but not as precise as a Pocket Spring unit.

The Hypnos Trio Guest bed is available in a range of colours and materials, and each is of the highest quality.

Who Is This Bed Best Suited For?

Anyone who wants a spare sleeping space, but may not have the room. The excellent design allows for a spare bed to pop up whenever needed. The excellent standard of finish mean the bed looks great in any setting, and the high quality mattresses will result in your guests wanting an extended stay!

Frequently Asked Questions - 8

Please could you tell me the height from the ground to the top of the bed base where the mattress sits, or from ground to top of mattress. Many thanks. Melissa

Hello. The height is approx 40cm without the mattress.

Is the trundle suitable for an adult? What weight limit would you suggest. What is delivery time once ordered

Hello. Yes, the guest bed is absolutely fine for use by an adult and is made to a very high standard. The mattress is a better specification than the average mattress on the market!

Can you chose which side to pull out the under bed...I need to pull it out on the left side. Thank you

Hello. Yes you can. This is decided when you put the headboard in place, as it can be fitted to either end.

Can the mattresses be zipped together? And also if wanting to use as singles can they be completely separated?

Yes, the two mattresses can be zipped together and used as a larger mattress or they can be used as seperate, single mattresses.

Can the trundle be be pulled out from either side? Or do you have the option of fitting the headboard at the most convenient end to make sure the bed opens up on the side you require?

The headboard can be fitted at either end of the bed so the trundle can be accessed from whichever side you require.

Does the fabric choice cover the entire bed including the base, or just the headboard? In other words, if we select a fabric, will the entire bed and headboard be covered in the same fabric?

Yes, the base and headboard fabrics will match.

Do you supply just the mattresses for the Hypnos Trio guest bed? We have had ours (small single version) for some years and would now like to renew the supplied zip-link mattresses.

Yes we can! Please do contact us on 0116 274 75 45 for more information.

Could you please clarify what is included in the price of the Hypnos Trio Guest bed?

The price includes the main bedframe, the trundle and two mattresses. The headboard can be purchased as an option at an extra cost.

Glossary

  • Active Turns (Hypnos)

The Hypnos Spring Unit is a special design. With a conventional spring, a continued application of pressure will compress the spring completely. With a Hypnos spring, you can apply a certain amount of pressure and collapse the spring only so far, you have to apply more pressure to compress the spring further.

This gradual and progressive response from the spring allows for perfect support - not too firm, not too soft. The spring has been treated with various thresholds throughout, known as Active Turns, and it is these Active Turns that allow for the perfect amount of support.

  • Base (Hypnos)

The base of a Hypnos bed is built to very high standards and is available in several options. You can see more information on these options, here.

  • Breathability

Mattresses need to breathe. With the amount of fillings and areas of space within a mattress, they can quickly hold heat and moisture. Over time this can influence the way a mattress behaves and also effect the life span of a mattress.

Manufacturers have developed different ways of tackling the problem of Breathability in mattresses. Some brands have used vents to allow air to pass through the mattress. Some brands use state-of-the-art materials to cover the mattress, such as Coolmax or Outlast. Memory Foam has a reputation of storing heat and moisture, as foam requires heat to soften up.Memory Foam brands have overcome this problem by applying Coolmax and Outlast, they also use Open Cell technology. This technique is to simply allow the foam to settle with larger spaces between the foam cells. This allows heat and moisture to move freely without getting trapped.

Some mattresses are created in such a way that they do not require any additional Breathability methods. These mattresses are generally the entry level mattresses with Open Coil spring units and not a great deal of fillings.

  • Fillings

The fillings of each mattress can differ from one another, but largely they include British Lambs Wool and Cotton. Some also feature Latex, Silk and Cashmere.

  • Guest Bed (Hypnos)

The Hypnos Guest Bed is the best available. You can select from two sizes, and two choices of mattress specification. You can view it here.

  • Open Coil (Hypnos)

Open Coil is the term used to describe the spring unit used in the Westbourne Supreme, and some of the bases. Open Coil is a spring unit, where the springs are made from one continuous wire, and are not Pocket Sprung.

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Tufted

Tufting is a traditional and highly successful way of finishing a mattress surface. The end result makes the mattress appear to have dimples, or buttons dipping into the surface. This technique is designed to hold the surface materials together and to fix them to the core of the mattress to prevent the layers moving over time. A modern method is Spiral Tufting, which involves fixing the surface to the fillings and spring unit.

The actual tuft is usually made from a cotton felt material and is fastened by a cotton or wool chord to the spring unit, in most cases. A tufted mattress will normally have a firmer surface than a non-tufted/quilted surface. The reason for this is that the Tufting process actually holds the surface material and underlying fibre layers tightly together. This will create a tighter, firmer feel than a quilted mattress.
