Open Coil Mattresses
Open Coil mattresses are the most traditional, durable and cost effective type of sprung mattress. This type of spring is very efficient and requires minimal engineering, so the prices remain excellent. We offer many of the leading Open Coil mattresses from top brands such as Myers, Highgrove, Sealy, Sweet Dreams and Shakespeare. As you’ll see, the prices are fantastic.
What Are Open Coil Mattresses?
Open Coil Mattresses contain an inter-connected spring system made from one continuous piece of wire. A standard open coil double mattress will have between 300 and 360 springs that are linked within a wire framework. Because they’re linked they share weight energy through the mattress very quickly and efficiently.
What’s The Mattress Gauge?
The thickness of the spring wire (referred to as the mattress gauge) will have a bearing on the mattresses’ level of firmness. The lower the gauge number, the thicker the gauge, which typically makes the mattress firmer. If you need any help choosing the right open coil mattress, we’re here to help. Economical ComfortOpen coil mattresses are amongst our most popular mattresses, this is due to the manufacturing process of brands like The Shires Bed Company and Silent Night and the combination of wonderful prices and superior comfort.
Open coil is formed using a single looped wire running from the head to the foot of the bed, which means that springs don't slip through wooden slats supporting the mattress. A higher spring count means a pleasant nights rest each and every time.
