Product Description

The Millbrook Claremont collection is a range of stunning beds and mattresses. These beds are designed to offer the very best possible materials, fillings, comfort and support and to do so whilst offering superb value for money. Millbrook have achieved all of that, and continue to enhance a Worldwide reputation for producing some of the best mattresses on the market today. This Claremont 5000 is simply incredible, packed full of amazing fillings and built around a 5000 strong spring unit, this mattress unbelievable.

Millbrook's Claremont collection boasts several mattresses of high quality. They differ from each other in spring count, the number of fillings, and the type of fillings. The higher in the range you go, the more springs, fillings and better quality fillings you will receive. The Claremont 5000 has - as you would expect - 5000 pocket springs, as well as layer upon layer of wonderfully comfortable fillings.

The Claremont 5000 has a pocket spring unit at its core. As each spring has weight applied, it will compress, acting as a piston. This effect means that weight is dealt with immediately and to precisely the right degree. Pocket springs are within their own fabric 'pocket' so not to disturb surrounding springs as they compress. This detail means that the support on offer is not only instant and accurate, but it is also without compromise. The outcome is to provide posture enhancing support, which will prevent pressure points from forming and so prevent aches and pains in the morning.

This Millbrook mattress has layer upon layer of hand applied luxury fillings. They include Hampshire Wool, Cotton, Cashgora, Pashmina, Bamboo and Silk. That amazing specification is chosen for the natural, breathable and environmentally friendly credentials. Each layer will allow the air to move freely through the mattress, keeping it cool and comfortable. The Wool and Pashmina layers are also ideal for preventing the existence of bed bugs, as they cannot survive on this.

Millbrook have hand tufted this stunning mattress to make sure that the surface layers remain in place throughout the mattress' long lifespan. There are handles for easy movement when required, as this is a turnable mattress. There are also breather vents to aid the movement of air through the mattress. The cover is made from a high-quality cotton, which is every bit as tactile as it is durable.

Glossary

  • Breathability

Mattresses need to breathe. With the amount of fillings and areas of space within a mattress, they can quickly hold heat and moisture. Over time this can influence the way a mattress behaves and also effect the life span of a mattress.

Manufacturers have developed different ways of tackling the problem of Breathability in mattresses. Some brands have used vents to allow air to pass through the mattress. Some brands use state-of-the-art materials to cover the mattress, such as Coolmax or Outlast. Memory Foam has a reputation of storing heat and moisture, as foam requires heat to soften up.Memory Foam brands have overcome this problem by applying Coolmax and Outlast, they also use Open Cell technology. This technique is to simply allow the foam to settle with larger spaces between the foam cells. This allows heat and moisture to move freely without getting trapped.

Some mattresses are created in such a way that they do not require any additional Breathability methods. These mattresses are generally the entry level mattresses with Open Coil spring units and not a great deal of fillings.

  • Hypoallergenic

Put simply, Hypoallergenic materials do not cause the amount of irritation that non-hypoallergenic materials can. Hypoallergenic materials can still cause irritation in some cases, the chances of this are reduced greatly. People with severe allergies and asthma may still have problems with items called hypoallergenic, but the risk is greatly reduced.

Hypoallergenic materials do not omit the same particles and fibres as other non-hypoallergenic materials. These particles are to blame for causing irritation and discomfort and in some cases the irritation can be dangerous. The Hypoallergenic properties of these materials can be created by number of techniques. Some materials (Memory Foam or Latex) are naturally hypoallergenic, others have been chemically treated.

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Tufted

Tufting is a traditional and highly successful way of finishing a mattress surface. The end result makes the mattress appear to have dimples, or buttons dipping into the surface. This technique is designed to hold the surface materials together and to fix them to the core of the mattress to prevent the layers moving over time. A modern method is Spiral Tufting, which involves fixing the surface to the fillings and spring unit.

The actual tuft is usually made from a cotton felt material and is fastened by a cotton or wool chord to the spring unit, in most cases. A tufted mattress will normally have a firmer surface than a non-tufted/quilted surface. The reason for this is that the Tufting process actually holds the surface material and underlying fibre layers tightly together. This will create a tighter, firmer feel than a quilted mattress.
