Product Description

The Myers Legacy replaces the extremely popular Staples Pocket Ortho bed. Myers now own Staples, and have poached this best seller and re-branded it under the World famous Myers brand name. The specification remains the same, built around the 800 Pocket Spring Unit, and designed to offer a firm and supportive feel.

The Staples Pocket Ortho was a top selling bed for more than two years, ever since it's introduction. Myers have re-structured the Staples brand and the Staples range is now based around much higher specifications, leaving the Pocket Ortho as an obvious model to adopt as a new Myers option. The Pocket Ortho was simply too good to let go altogether. Now named as the Myers Legacy, this ortho bed remains as popular as ever, and is built to the same high standards.

The Legacy is designed for those who want a firm feeling, supportive and yet comfortable bed. The 800 Pocket Springs offer excellent support and prevent any aches and pains caused by pressure points forming. The Pocket Springs act like pistons, moving up and down and working individually, ensuring a very accurate, efficient and durable transfer of body weight. This will offer you a great nights sleep, night after night.

The Myers Legacy has a 12 Year Warranty, which naturally includes a 1 Year Guarantee to start with. This is testament to the quality of the bed and confidence that Myers have in their models. The mattress is tufted, ensuring the layers of natural fillings remain in place throughout their long life. This hand tufting process will also increase the durability of the bed, and has been tuned to ensure the surface will also offer a relatively firm feel.

The mattress has flag stitched handles, meaning that they are strong enough to stay in place throughout the lifespan of this Myers mattress. The mattress is a no turn mattress, so there is only rotation from end to end required (once per season). The cover material is a high quality damask material, smooth and luxurious to the touch, yet durable enough to ensure the mattress will last for well over a decade.

The base of the Myers Legacy is a solid top base, enabling the mattress to function properly and remain firm and supportive. The Divan base is available with a choice of drawer options. This base is made to the same standard as the Legacy mattress itself.

Glossary

  • Fibre Most mattresses will have layers of fillings under the surface to increase comfort and separate the spring units from the surface. The most common fillings used in mattresses are cotton, wool and polyester among others. Mattresses require fillings to create a soft surface tension on which to sleep. The fillings normally compliment the internal spring unit by adding comfort to the support offered (by the spring unit) The tension of the surface fillings can be tuned by the density in which they are packed as well as by the method in which they are bound together. Tufting results in a slightly firmer feel than quilting.
  • Flag Stitched

Flag Stitching is the method in which handles are sewn to the sides of mattresses.

Flag Stitching is a robust and durable method normally the reserve of more expensive mattresses (due to the extra time and skill required).

  • Orthopaedic

Orthopaedic mattresses are usually the firmest mattresses on the market. A common mistake made by those with back pain, is to assume that a firm Orthopaedic mattress will be the solution. Personal comfort and a correct diagnosis of the cause of the pain should always be saught before purchasing an Orthopaedic mattress.

Many brands have 'Ortho' mattresses. Terms used include 'Backcare' or 'Orthocare' and the theme is generally to produce a firmer feeling mattress. The idea is to create a mattress that the body can rest on without sinking in and bending the spine, causing pressure to build up. However, if a lighter person lays on a firmer mattress, they will find the spine will not align correctly as the loaded parts of the body (shoulders, hips etc) are not sitting correctly. For more information on the causes of back pain, click here or read about another solution in the Zoning description.

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Turn / No Turn

Some mattresses require turning over, to aid even settlement. Others do not require turning, but will still require rotating.
