Myers have returned to producing mattresses of a high specification, as with the new Horatio Myers Collection. The Deluxe Natural 1600 is one of 3 mattresses from the new Horatio range, and is a testament to the experience and skill of the Myers workforce, many of whom have worked there for decades. This excellent mattress has a double-deck spring system, something Myers became well known for over the years. As the name would suggest, this mattress is also completely natural.
Myers' reputation has continued to grow over the years, and this new range has advanced it once more. The Deluxe Natural 1600 mattress has a 1600 Pocket Spring unit, boasting two layers of 800 Pocket Springs on top of one another. This design allows one layer to focus on support, whilst the other can offer a delicate amount of comfort. The two layers compliment each other perfectly, and work instantly and effortlessly to support the body exactly as required, when required.
A Pocket Spring will move up and down like a piston. As weight is applied, the spring will compress and support the body. These unique springs are held within a fabric pocket, which ensures they are kept apart from each other, meaning there is no compromise when a neighbouring spring compresses, no effect on it's surroundings.
The deep surface layers of this Myers mattress are applied by hand, and are of the best quality. These natural fillings comprise of Cashmere, Silk, Wool and Tree Silk. These exquisite fillings are wonderfully comfortable and luxurious to sleep on. The fillings are also breathable and hypo-allergenic. Wool, for instance, is naturally a deterrent to dust mites and bed bugs. The fillings are applied by hand to create an even, consistent and detailed layer of sumptuous comfort. This is a no-turn mattress, so there is only one sleeping surface.
This Myers mattress is tufted (the dimple like features in the surface), which is a technique used to ensure the mattress remains at a set tension, but also ensures the fillings remain in place throughout the mattress' long life span. There are breather vents and handles on this mattress too.
The cover fabric used by Myers on this new mattress is also natural, which increases the breathability and comfort.
This bed has the option of 3 colours (Granite, Mist and Taupe) and you can select from a standard base height (40cm) or a shallow option (32cm). There are also the options of drawer combinations and now an Ottoman base, which is built to the highest standards and uses only the strongest components and parts.

Glossary
- Breathability
Mattresses need to breathe. With the amount of fillings and areas of space within a mattress, they can quickly hold heat and moisture. Over time this can influence the way a mattress behaves and also effect the life span of a mattress.Â
Manufacturers have developed different ways of tackling the problem of Breathability in mattresses. Some brands have used vents to allow air to pass through the mattress. Some brands use state-of-the-art materials to cover the mattress, such as Coolmax or Outlast. Memory Foam has a reputation of storing heat and moisture, as foam requires heat to soften up.Memory Foam brands have overcome this problem by applying Coolmax and Outlast, they also use Open Cell technology. This technique is to simply allow the foam to settle with larger spaces between the foam cells. This allows heat and moisture to move freely without getting trapped.
Some mattresses are created in such a way that they do not require any additional Breathability methods. These mattresses are generally the entry level mattresses with Open Coil spring units and not a great deal of fillings. - Cashmere
A luxury filling, Cashmere Wool is normally the reserve of very high quality mattresses. A natural material that is very comfortable and very durable.
- Firmness
MyNextMattress is developing a new and unique solution to the Firmness scale accuracy. Not seen anywhere else in the World, we will be measuring the Firmness of all our mattresses precisely and in detail.
We are the only company in the Country that will actually measure the Firmness of a mattress and give a grading out of 10. We are always aware that choosing your next mattress can be a difficult and time consuming process, therefore we strive to give as much information as possible on every mattress we sell.
The way our system works is by applying weight to a mattress. We will apply weight gradually and measure the amount the mattress dips. The more weight, the more the mattress will 'sink'. We would then measure the distance the mattress dips and plot these measurements (weight and distance) on a graph. This graph can then be used to tell us the Firmness category the mattress fits into, 7 out of 10 for instance.
Our Firmness Device provides a central rod which we apply weights to, on the bottom end there is a disc which pushes into the mattress. The top of this rod supports the weights and will sink according to the 'give' in a mattress. We measure from this point.
As a result of this unique technique, it will be possible for you to shop by the firmness of a mattress, this is not possible anywhere else. - Orthopaedic
Orthopaedic mattresses are usually the firmest mattresses on the market. A common mistake made by those with back pain, is to assume that a firm Orthopaedic mattress will be the solution. Personal comfort and a correct diagnosis of the cause of the pain should always be saught before purchasing an Orthopaedic mattress.
Many brands have 'Ortho' mattresses. Terms used include 'Backcare' or 'Orthocare' and the theme is generally to produce a firmer feeling mattress. The idea is to create a mattress that the body can rest on without sinking in and bending the spine, causing pressure to build up. However, if a lighter person lays on a firmer mattress, they will find the spine will not align correctly as the loaded parts of the body (shoulders, hips etc) are not sitting correctly. For more information on the causes of back pain, click here or read about another solution in the Zoning description. - Tufted
Tufting is a traditional and highly successful way of finishing a mattress surface. The end result makes the mattress appear to have dimples, or buttons dipping into the surface. This technique is designed to hold the surface materials together and to fix them to the core of the mattress to prevent the layers moving over time. A modern method is Spiral Tufting, which involves fixing the surface to the fillings and spring unit.
The actual tuft is usually made from a cotton felt material and is fastened by a cotton or wool chord to the spring unit, in most cases. A tufted mattress will normally have a firmer surface than a non-tufted/quilted surface. The reason for this is that the Tufting process actually holds the surface material and underlying fibre layers tightly together. This will create a tighter, firmer feel than a quilted mattress.
