Product Description

The Relyon Grandee 2400 Mattress is a superb mattress made to the same high standards that Relyon has come to embody in the many years they've been making beds and mattresses. This Grandee mattress shows exactly what Relyon can offer - quality, comfort, support, durability and a great price. This Relyon mattress comes with a full 15 Year Guarantee.

Relyon's Heritage Collection boasts some of the World's best mattresses. The Grandee is one of those, and with an incredible specification, it is no wonder that this mattress is among their best sellers.

The Relyon Grandee mattress uses a twin layer pocket spring system to promote outstanding back care and comfort. One layer focuses on the support your body requires, preventing pressure points from forming, which are the common cause of early morning aches and pains. The top layer of equally sized springs offers the supreme comfort that Relyon is famed for. Each spring delicately balances the body's contours and movements, leaving you feeling refreshed, alert and relaxed throughout the day.

The pocket spring system consists of 2400 individually moving springs, each nested in their own fabric pocket, meaning that they do not interfere with one another, allowing them to support a very small area of the body in a very precise way. Each spring moves like a piston, up and down as pressure is applied. This provides a great balance of support and comfort in key areas by moving to the contours of your body. Both layers house the same sized springs, working together in harmony.

Generously stuffed with cotton, lambswool, hand teased mohair, hand teased horse hair, cashmere, and silk, this Relyon mattress has an impressive filling content, applied by hand and unrivalled by other bed makers. The Grandee 2400 is hand tufted to help these fillings sustain plumpness night after night.

Relyon have applied Silver+ Protection to this mattress, a coating based on the microparticles of silver ions, which is designed to dramatically reduce microbial grow for a fresh and hygienic fabric. The sleeping area is extended right up to the edges because of four rows of hand stitching supporting the mattress walls.

Glossary

  • Breathability

Mattresses need to breathe. With the amount of fillings and areas of space within a mattress, they can quickly hold heat and moisture. Over time this can influence the way a mattress behaves and also effect the life span of a mattress.

Manufacturers have developed different ways of tackling the problem of Breathability in mattresses. Some brands have used vents to allow air to pass through the mattress. Some brands use state-of-the-art materials to cover the mattress, such as Coolmax or Outlast. Memory Foam has a reputation of storing heat and moisture, as foam requires heat to soften up.Memory Foam brands have overcome this problem by applying Coolmax and Outlast, they also use Open Cell technology. This technique is to simply allow the foam to settle with larger spaces between the foam cells. This allows heat and moisture to move freely without getting trapped.

Some mattresses are created in such a way that they do not require any additional Breathability methods. These mattresses are generally the entry level mattresses with Open Coil spring units and not a great deal of fillings.

  • Hypoallergenic

Put simply, Hypoallergenic materials do not cause the amount of irritation that non-hypoallergenic materials can. Hypoallergenic materials can still cause irritation in some cases, the chances of this are reduced greatly. People with severe allergies and asthma may still have problems with items called hypoallergenic, but the risk is greatly reduced.

Hypoallergenic materials do not omit the same particles and fibres as other non-hypoallergenic materials. These particles are to blame for causing irritation and discomfort and in some cases the irritation can be dangerous. The Hypoallergenic properties of these materials can be created by number of techniques. Some materials (Memory Foam or Latex) are naturally hypoallergenic, others have been chemically treated.

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Tufted

Tufting is a traditional and highly successful way of finishing a mattress surface. The end result makes the mattress appear to have dimples, or buttons dipping into the surface. This technique is designed to hold the surface materials together and to fix them to the core of the mattress to prevent the layers moving over time. A modern method is Spiral Tufting, which involves fixing the surface to the fillings and spring unit.

The actual tuft is usually made from a cotton felt material and is fastened by a cotton or wool chord to the spring unit, in most cases. A tufted mattress will normally have a firmer surface than a non-tufted/quilted surface. The reason for this is that the Tufting process actually holds the surface material and underlying fibre layers tightly together. This will create a tighter, firmer feel than a quilted mattress.
