Product Description

The Relyon Hampshire 2150 is a superb mattress, designed and finished to the highest specifications - as you would expect of Relyon. This medium / firm mattress is filled with layer upon layer of Wool fillings and is built around a 2150-count Pocket Spring unit. These two key factors work in harmony to offer a supportive and comfortable night's sleep, night after night.

Relyon have developed a reputation for offering excellent mattresses at a great price. This Wool mattress highlights just what value for money their mattresses offer, and so it is easy to see why this is one of our most popular mattresses. Built around a Pocket Spring unit containing 2150 springs, this mattress provides support that will prevent aches and pains from forming during the night. These aches are normally caused by a lack of support, causing pressure points to form. The springs will move up and down like pistons as weight is applied, perfectly mirroring the contours of the body and so enhancing posture and preventing those pressure points.

This no-turn mattress has been topped with layer upon layer of wool, applied by hand to ensure an even and consistent feel at all times. Wool is a brilliant ingredient to any mattress, as it maintains a comfortable sleeping temperature during the summer or winter, as well being anti-bed big and dustmite resistant, it is also completely natural!

Relyon have finished the Hampshire 2150 mattress with a luxury cover material that is as tactile as it is durable. This has been tufted to bind the surface layers in place, further enhancing durability.

Relyon has covered this mattress with their full 10-year guarantee and we deliver this item for free!

Glossary

  • Breathability

Mattresses need to breathe. With the amount of fillings and areas of space within a mattress, they can quickly hold heat and moisture. Over time this can influence the way a mattress behaves and also effect the life span of a mattress.

Manufacturers have developed different ways of tackling the problem of Breathability in mattresses. Some brands have used vents to allow air to pass through the mattress. Some brands use state-of-the-art materials to cover the mattress, such as Coolmax or Outlast. Memory Foam has a reputation of storing heat and moisture, as foam requires heat to soften up.Memory Foam brands have overcome this problem by applying Coolmax and Outlast, they also use Open Cell technology. This technique is to simply allow the foam to settle with larger spaces between the foam cells. This allows heat and moisture to move freely without getting trapped.

Some mattresses are created in such a way that they do not require any additional Breathability methods. These mattresses are generally the entry level mattresses with Open Coil spring units and not a great deal of fillings.

  • Hypoallergenic

Put simply, Hypoallergenic materials do not cause the amount of irritation that non-hypoallergenic materials can. Hypoallergenic materials can still cause irritation in some cases, the chances of this are reduced greatly. People with severe allergies and asthma may still have problems with items called hypoallergenic, but the risk is greatly reduced.

Hypoallergenic materials do not omit the same particles and fibres as other non-hypoallergenic materials. These particles are to blame for causing irritation and discomfort and in some cases the irritation can be dangerous. The Hypoallergenic properties of these materials can be created by number of techniques. Some materials (Memory Foam or Latex) are naturally hypoallergenic, others have been chemically treated.

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Tufted

Tufting is a traditional and highly successful way of finishing a mattress surface. The end result makes the mattress appear to have dimples, or buttons dipping into the surface. This technique is designed to hold the surface materials together and to fix them to the core of the mattress to prevent the layers moving over time. A modern method is Spiral Tufting, which involves fixing the surface to the fillings and spring unit.

The actual tuft is usually made from a cotton felt material and is fastened by a cotton or wool chord to the spring unit, in most cases. A tufted mattress will normally have a firmer surface than a non-tufted/quilted surface. The reason for this is that the Tufting process actually holds the surface material and underlying fibre layers tightly together. This will create a tighter, firmer feel than a quilted mattress.
