A rare gem

You never know how good a company is until something goes wrong. In my case the issue was with the manufacturer not My Next Mattress. Throughout the period of my complaint this company have been 100% supportive, communication rapid and have lived up to their promise. In this world of commerce I feel I have had personal service of the highest quality. Our initial contact was also excellent and our mattress was delivered quickly and efficiently. Wouldn't go anywhere else from now on.

Customer focused

Customer focused, competitive, helpful and very efficient. Only issue I had was MNM omitted to include the agreed return of my old bed on the delivery documents, probably an oversight but caused me some inconvenience hence 4 stars.

Specifications

This mattress features the 1400 Pocket Spring system, which has featured in many of the best-selling Sealy mattresses of late. The Pocket Spring unit is designed to offer luxuriously soft comfort, but also to provide excellent support, exactly where required. The Pocket Springs move individually to provide very precise support. Each spring moves up and down to support the body's contours and movements perfectly.

The Nostromo mattress has a deep, soft layer of Latex on the surface. This layer of natural Latex (known as Innergetic Latex) acts to instantly mould to the contours of the body, effortlessly supporting the spine and further enhancing the luxurious feel of the bed. Furthermore, this material is ideal for those with allergies, as bed bugs and mites don’t thrive on latex.

The surface material of this Sealy mattress is a quilted, soft, stretch knit fabric that is as tactile as it is luxurious. This cover fabric is made from Tencel, a naturally occurring fibre that Sealy have been applying to their mattresses for years – with wonderful results. This fabric works to maintain a comfortable heat and moisture level at all times, and maintains a 'micro-climate' within the bed, by absorbing excess heat and moisture when required, and releasing it when the external climate allows. Sealy has also infused the fabric with Purotex. This treatment has Allergy UK's seal of approval as it features slow release, friendly bacteria. This process reduces odour within the bed and also controls other allergens.

This a no-turn mattress and does not need flipping over, but will require rotating once every 3 months or so, which will ensure the surface remains even and the support remains perfect!

Very good
Sarah Andersson - Verified Buyer
Firmer than we were expecting, but very comfortable and very well made.
Durability
Current owner - Verified Buyer
The mattress is fairly priced looking at other similar mattresses on the market. The initial smell form the purotec chemical is quite overpowering and takes around a week to disperse by stripping the bed and allowing it to air.

Initially it feels very supportive and the pillow top feels luxuriously soft. But after as little as 3 days I noticed that a groove indentation was forming in the middle of the bed that doesn't recover and the mattress is losing its feeling of support already. On waking the mattress has large sags that don;t seem to recover. The long term durability is questionable. Having had my previous spring mattress for 6 years it still looks new with no signs of sagging, so can only compare against this,

The term 'Divan' comes from the Greek word 'Divani', meaning a couch-like piece of furniture. Divans have many, many variations as they are essentially a surface on which to place the mattress with space for storage underneath.

A traditional Four Drawer Divan features two equal sized drawers on either side of the base. A Four Drawer base is not typically an option for Small Single, or Single sized beds due to the lack of space in the base. There are many options for the Divan Base, they include:

  • No Drawer.
  • 2 Drawer.
  • 4 Drawer.
  • 4 Drawer Continental (2 normal sized drawers and two smaller drawers, usually designed to accommodate bedside furniture).
  • End Drawer (which can also be combined with 2 side drawers).

Divan bases can also include the above options but also with the extra option of a Sprung Base, or a Platform Top/Solid Base.

MyNextMattress is developing a new and unique solution to the Firmness scale accuracy. Not seen anywhere else in the World, we will be measuring the Firmness of all our mattresses precisely and in detail.

We are the only company in the Country that will actually measure the Firmness of a mattress and give a grading out of 10. We are always aware that choosing your next mattress can be a difficult and time consuming process, therefore we strive to give as much information as possible on every mattress we sell.

The way our system works is by applying weight to a mattress. We will apply weight gradually and measure the amount the mattress dips. The more weight, the more the mattress will 'sink'. We would then measure the distance the mattress dips and plot these measurements (weight and distance) on a graph. This graph can then be used to tell us the Firmness category the mattress fits into, 7 out of 10 for instance.

Our Firmness Device provides a central rod which we apply weights to, on the bottom end there is a disc which pushes into the mattress. The top of this rod supports the weights and will sink according to the 'give' in a mattress. We measure from this point.

As a result of this unique technique, it will be possible for you to shop by the firmness of a mattress, this is not possible anywhere else.

Foam Encapsulation is a recent addition to the bedding market. An idea designed to offer greater edge-to-edge support as well offering greater Bedstead/Slatted base compatibility.

The idea is simple; Create a spring unit and then sit it in a 'matchbox' of Foam. As you can see in the diagram below, the spring unit is surrounded on all sides by a layer of Memory Foam. This foam gives a solid, stable feel to the mattress and allows the spring unit to be completely separated from the mattresses fillings and cushion.

Once the spring unit is set in the foam and the foam glued together, it can be surrounded by fillings and fibre to create the traditional look for a mattress or can be given a Pillow Top for even more comfort.

Latex is the ultimate in luxurious natural materials (but can be synthetic in other markets). Latex is actually found in more than 10% of flowering plants around the world. About 20,000 species from more than 40 families. The Latex used in the bedding industry is taken from sustainable sources. Latex is perfect for mattresses because it is soft, hypoallergenic, natural and moulds to the shape of the body.

Latex used in bedding also tends to be treated in such a way that it can be used by people who have Latex allergies! The technique used is to super heat the Latex unit, freeze it, super heat it and freeze it again. Once this process is complete, the harmful chemicals released can be chemically washed off, leaving it suitable for everyone. Latex is the material Memory Foam has tried to copy. Memory foam  requires heat to mould to the shape of your body and can therefore become too warm for some. Latex does not require heat and is soft at any temperature. As a natural material which requires time and various processes to be extracted, Latex can be more expensive that its rival materials, but the comfort levels achieved are well worth it.

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

Every mattress we sell comes with at least a 12 month manufacturers guarantee, though most come with much longer guarantees. To find out what mattress warranty is included with your purchase, look out for the rosette on the top right corner of the mattress page. All new goods are sold with a minimum 12-month manufacturers guarantee. Full details are available on request. In addition to the manufacturers guarantee MyNextMattress offers a limited extended mattress warranty. This warranty varies in length item by item. You must keep all your purchase records as they will be needed in the event of a claim. The warranty is applied as follows:

  • The mattress warranty is against faults in manufacture, not wear and tear or damage.
  • The mattress must always be used with a mattress protector, turned and cleaned as per the manufacturers instructions and must be unsoiled at the time that the claim is lodged.
  • The claim must be registered with MyNextMattress by email or in writing. All details of the claim must be lodged with MyNextMattress by email or in writing.

If the claim is accepted the following process will apply:

  • We will arrange to collect the goods and return them to us for inspection.
  • The carrier reserves the right to refuse to collect items that are not packaged suitably or which is unhygienic.
  • We may require pre payment for the costs of the collection in some circumstances.
  • If we validate the claim we will contact you to arrange the replacement goods to be dispatched to you and delivered to you on a date that is convenient for you.
  • The replacement item can be any item from our then current range.
  • The difference in price from the warranty covered item is payable by you, along with the cost of collecting the original item.

There will be an allowance granted against the replacement item according to the following scale.

  • If the claim is validated within the first two years - 40% of the original price will be credited.
  • If the claim is validated in year three of the purchase -25% of the original price will be credited.
  • If the claim is validated in year four of the purchase - 15% of the original price will be credited.
  • If the claim is validated in year five or (if warranty is for longer than five years then any subsequent year up to the warranty period) -10% of the original price will be credited.

The warranty is only applicable to the original purchaser and is only valid if approved by MyNextMattress. It should be considered as extra peace of mind in case of manufacturing defects that arise after the manufacturers mattress guarantee has expired. It should not be regarded as a guarantee that any item will last for any particular period of time, or as a guarantee against deterioration in performance. It is in addition to your statutory rights. There is no entitlement to a cash payment in lieu of the replacement. The replacement item must be at the same or higher price than the original.
