The Sealy Ruby Ortho is one of our most popular Orthopaedic mattresses. This Sealy mattress is designed to offer great support, particularly for those of above average stature. The Sealy Ruby Ortho is built around the durable and supportive PostureTech Core Support spring system.
Designed for those who prefer a firmer feel, this mattress is firmer than average, but the surface layers are still naturally comfortable and the cover material is also a silky smooth and very tactile.
The PostureTech Core Support spring system is precisely-engineered to offer consistent deep-down support and comfort, giving your body exactly what it needs to achieve a superior night’s rest. The spring unit is also ideal for preventing roll-together and roll-off, resulting in less disturbance as you sleep.
Finished with a soft quilted fabric, the mattress features a collection of Sealy’s Smart Fibres. Tencel is an eco-fibre that works to create a cool, dry and irritation-free sleeping environment. Working alongside Tencel is Allergy UK endorsed, Purotex, which prevents the build-up of dust mites and allergens. It is also designed to keep your mattress clean, fresh and odour free- so that over time your mattress feels just as good as the day you placed it in your home. And lastly, Adaptive technology absorbs moisture to regulate your temperature and keep you cool.
This Sealy mattress is double-sided and has handles for easy movement when required. The Ruby Ortho mattress has a guarantee of 5 years as standard.

Glossary
- Fibre Most mattresses will have layers of fillings under the surface to increase comfort and separate the spring units from the surface. The most common fillings used in mattresses are cotton, wool and polyester among others. Mattresses require fillings to create a soft surface tension on which to sleep. The fillings normally compliment the internal spring unit by adding comfort to the support offered (by the spring unit) The tension of the surface fillings can be tuned by the density in which they are packed as well as by the method in which they are bound together. Tufting results in a slightly firmer feel than quilting.

Orthopaedic mattresses are usually the firmest mattresses on the market. A common mistake made by those with back pain, is to assume that a firm Orthopaedic mattress will be the solution. Personal comfort and a correct diagnosis of the cause of the pain should always be saught before purchasing an Orthopaedic mattress.
Many brands have 'Ortho' mattresses. Terms used include 'Backcare' or 'Orthocare' and the theme is generally to produce a firmer feeling mattress. The idea is to create a mattress that the body can rest on without sinking in and bending the spine, causing pressure to build up. However, if a lighter person lays on a firmer mattress, they will find the spine will not align correctly as the loaded parts of the body (shoulders, hips etc) are not sitting correctly. A Platform Top Divan (also called a 'Solid Top), is the traditional base option used in Divan beds. The base is a simple wooden framed construction with or without drawers inside. The surface is a solid peice of wood which the mattress is placed on.
Platform Top divans will result in the mattress offering the tension / firmness it is designed to offer. A Sprung Edge Divan will soften the overall feel significantly. The Platform Top base is a simple construction and easily leaves plenty of space for storage.
