Product Description
The Sealy Windermere is the best selling Sealy contract mattress. Designed for the demanding Hotel industry, the Windermere is a popular model for hotel's and has become popular with the many guests that have slept on one over the years. Now available for delivery to domestic addresses, the popularity of this Sealy bed has continued.
The Windermere is one of the most popular Sealy bed's, and not just with the Hotel market. This mattress is a deep, supportive and comfortable mattress designed for durability as much as comfort and support. The cover material now features the Sealy BugShield technology, which will eliminate bed bugs and greatly reduce dustmites.
Sealy introduced a range of contract beds some years ago, and the range has developed in a market leader. The popularity of these beds within the hotel industry has lead to a natural increase in the popularity of the beds in the domestic market, as many happy hotel guests have wanted one for themselves.
The Sealy Windermere boasts the Sealy PostureTech Spring System at it's core. This spring system has been designed with help from the American Orthopedic Advisory Board. This system has been refined over the years in to the supportive and reactive unit it is today. The springs will dissipate the body's weight (energy) in such a way that it will prevent aches and pains from developing. The additional benefit of this spring unit is that the springs are designed to limit energy echoes through the mattress, that may be caused by a restless partner.
As well as the PostureTech Spring System, the Windermere has a deep layer of Memory Foam on the surface, designed to mould to the body instantly and effortlessly. This layer will further prevent aches and pains caused by pressure points forming. The foam layer is of a soft density, so will be very comfortable.
This Sealy mattress has a quilted layer to emphasise the comfortable and luxurious nature of the mattress. The quilted surface loosely binds the upper layers together, but not so tight as to compromise the firmness and comfort. This cover material is silky smooth to the touch and is now infused with the Sealy BugShield Technology that has proven so popular in other models. This new technology is proven to kill off bed bugs and will drastically reduce the amount of dustmites in the bed.
Finally, the Windermere has handles and air vents on all sides for added convenience.

- OldIve seen a lot of sealy beds when shopping around but this one is quite old. We have returned this since and have gone for a newer one.Verified Buyer
- Wildemere mattressPurchased this mattress to replace a Temperpedic original. Have lower back pains due to degenerative disc disease and scoliosis. I found the mattress a bit TOO firm and am going to send it back and trade it for the plush version. I believe it offers much more cushion and will be more comfortable but offer enough supportVerified Buyer

Glossary
- Memory Foam
Memory Foam was invented by NASA in 1966. The idea was to improve the safety of aircraft cushions, but it was not long before th material was developed further and used in more and more products. Memory Foam is an open cell construction, which reacts to body heat and weight. The more heat applied, the softer the material gets. This, in turn, allows the weight applied to sink deeper. Memory Foam can be made at various densities to result in different tensions/firmnesses.
The crucial element of Memory Foam is that it softens and moulds to the body shape. This ability allows for very accurate contour support and weight distribution. This ability makes Memory Foam a desirable material for mattresses. Some mattresses are completely Memory Foam, perhaps using different layers of various densities. Some mattresses use Memory Foam to compliment a Spring Unit.
As Memory Foam requires heat to achieve its desired state, the heat is stored. Some people are not keen on Memory Foam as this heat can gradually build, resulting in a warm bed. However, this stereotype can be seen as outdated, as many manufacturers have solved the issue by applying new techniques to compliment the Foam. Techniques such as Outlast and Coolmax. Memory Foam is also Hypoallergenic and is therefore very popular with Asthma and Allergy sufferers.
- Quilted / Micro Quilted
Quilting is the stitching technique used to join or attach the mattress' surface layers of fibres to the surface material (the ticking). There are various different techniques which can be used to join these layers, but Quilting is common. Traditionally, Quilting offers a softer surface feel than Tufting as the layers are not held together so tightly. Also see Diamond Stitching or Micro Quilting for variations on Quilting.
