The Antonion 1000 mattress is a beautiful mattress, offering both support and comfort for all. This excellent new mattress is built around a 1000 Pocket Spring unit, and features natural fillings and a smooth, soft quilted surface. The Shakespeare Antonio 1000 mattress also boasts a 5 Year Guarantee.
The Antonio 1000 mattress has a great spring unit. The 1000 Pocket Springs at the core of this bed are used in a wide range of Shakespeare mattresses, as it is as durable as it is supportive and comfortable. The springs work independently from one another to ensure uncompromised support, resulting in pressure relief and no more aches and pains in the morning!
This mattress is a no-turn mattress, only requiring rotation (head end swapping with foot end). As such, there is only one side that has fillings, and this mattress has a lot. There is a wonderfully comfortable, deep pad of natural fillings on the sleeping surface, which compliments the springs perfectly.
This is a quilted mattress, which is why the surface is smooth and soft. The surface layers are allowed to move around more than they would if they were bound in place.
The cover material used on this mattress is a wonderfully soft, tactile and durable knitted fabric, which looks as lovely as it feels!

Glossary
- Pocket Sprung
Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.
By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.
If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.
