Sleepeezee have become a World famous name as manufacturers of some of the finest beds in the World. As holders of the Royal Warrant, Sleepeezee has earned their reputation, which continues to go from strength to strength. This new Backcare Luxury mattress is part of their latest collection and is a great example of what Sleepeezee can produce.

The Backcare Luxury has a 1400 Pocket Spring system at its core, offering superb support which adjusts to support the contours of the body perfectly. These springs move up and down like pistons, only supporting a specific part of the body, ensuring accurate and instant support. Other spring systems share weight, resulting in compromised support, but this Sleepeezee spring works independently.

As well as this excellent spring system, the Backcare Luxury 1400 has a deep and luxurious layer of luxury fillings, including Wool and Silk. These layers are breathable and maintain a comfortable temperature and moisture level.

This Sleepeezee mattress is hand-tufted, meaning the surface layers remain in place, even and supportive and will not move around over the years. This process also results in an accurate and precise firmness of mattress.

The Backcare Luxury 1400 also features breather vents, handles and 3 rows of side stitching. These final flourishes add a final touch of class to this superb mattress. As well as these details, this Sleepeezee mattress is a no-turn mattress, only requiring rotation once per season, although we recommend this is done more often in the early stages of the mattress' life.

  2. Marie-Anne Says:
    100%
    Very supportive
Great for us as we had bad backs for years. Not completely solved our problem, but so much better than it was. We now wake up without pain, although our problems require stretching etc before we are ready for the day!
No regrets in choosing this mattress though, best we've had since our accident and we've tried a LOT!

Glossary

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Pressure Points

Pressure Points are created in the body when lying on a mattress which is not suitable for a persons physique. The Pressure Points are caused by putting stresses through the body. When the spine is not aligned correctly (i.e, straight), it can cause pressure to build up in the back, hips or shoulders (etc).

When a bed is too soft, the body sinks in, causing certain areas to be under the strain of the rest of the body. When a mattress is too hard/firm, then the weight applied can cause the body to flex/bend in the opposite way - causing a similar problem. Hips, shoulders and so on, are requried to be sunken into the mattress slightly more than the surrounding areas, as they carry the weight. When this is not the case, the lower back may be bent to compensate. The ideal mattress is one which will keep the spine straight.

  • Side Stitched

Side Stitching is the way in which the side of a mattress is finished. A traditional process, the Side Stitching technique applied by many high-end companies, is a highly-skilled profession and takes time and a great deal of experience to perfect. The technique involves passing a needle through the side of a mattress right the way through to the horizontal surfaces for additional strength and stability. This technique is normally the reserve of expensive, high-end mattresses.

Another technique applied more commonly in mid-range mattresses, is to simply attach the stitching to the spring unit in the mattress. Other manufacturers may simply use a material on the side of the mattress which appears to be side stitched, but actually is not.

  • Tufted

Tufting is a traditional and highly successful way of finishing a mattress surface. The end result makes the mattress appear to have dimples, or buttons dipping into the surface. This technique is designed to hold the surface materials together and to fix them to the core of the mattress to prevent the layers moving over time. A modern method is Spiral Tufting, which involves fixing the surface to the fillings and spring unit.

The actual tuft is usually made from a cotton felt material and is fastened by a cotton or wool chord to the spring unit, in most cases. A tufted mattress will normally have a firmer surface than a non-tufted/quilted surface. The reason for this is that the Tufting process actually holds the surface material and underlying fibre layers tightly together. This will create a tighter, firmer feel than a quilted mattress.
