Product Description

Discontinued item - LAST REMAINING STOCK!

The Bordeaux 2000 is one of the most popular Sleepeezee mattresses at the moment. This excellent Sleepeezee mattress is designed to offer great value for money. Made using the finest materials, and put together by the most experienced craftsmen and women in the industry, the Sleepeezee Bordeaux mattress is superb!

The 2000 Pocket Springs in this mattress move up and down only, not side to side and they will not spread their load across to other springs. The result of this is that the springs are very efficient and carry the body weight easily, efficiently and consistently. As the springs only carry the weight of energy applied directly, the quality of support is second to none, preventing aches and pains in the morning.

As well as the precise spring system at the core of the mattress, the Bordeaux 2000 has a layer of Wool and Silk on the sleep surfaces. These wonderfully sumptuous and luxurious fillings are not only incredibly comfortable, but they are also breathable, ensuring the mattress' temperature and moisture levels remain perfect throughout the night.

The cover of this mattress is a luxury Belgian Damask, designed for comfort and durability.

This Sleepeezee mattress is a tufted mattress, which sees the surface layers bound in place by the hand-applied technique of fixing a cord through the mattress, fixing all layers and materials in place. This process ensures a specific tension, as well as increasing the lifespan of the bed.

Glossary

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Pressure Points

Pressure Points are created in the body when lying on a mattress which is not suitable for a persons physique. The Pressure Points are caused by putting stresses through the body. When the spine is not aligned correctly (i.e, straight), it can cause pressure to build up in the back, hips or shoulders (etc).

When a bed is too soft, the body sinks in, causing certain areas to be under the strain of the rest of the body. When a mattress is too hard/firm, then the weight applied can cause the body to flex/bend in the opposite way - causing a similar problem. Hips, shoulders and so on, are requried to be sunken into the mattress slightly more than the surrounding areas, as they carry the weight. When this is not the case, the lower back may be bent to compensate. The ideal mattress is one which will keep the spine straight.

  • Side Stitched

Side Stitching is the way in which the side of a mattress is finished. A traditional process, the Side Stitching technique applied by many high-end companies, is a highly-skilled profession and takes time and a great deal of experience to perfect. The technique involves passing a needle through the side of a mattress right the way through to the horizontal surfaces for additional strength and stability. This technique is normally the reserve of expensive, high-end mattresses.

Another technique applied more commonly in mid-range mattresses, is to simply attach the stitching to the spring unit in the mattress. Other manufacturers may simply use a material on the side of the mattress which appears to be side stitched, but actually is not.

  • Tufted

Tufting is a traditional and highly successful way of finishing a mattress surface. The end result makes the mattress appear to have dimples, or buttons dipping into the surface. This technique is designed to hold the surface materials together and to fix them to the core of the mattress to prevent the layers moving over time. A modern method is Spiral Tufting, which involves fixing the surface to the fillings and spring unit.

The actual tuft is usually made from a cotton felt material and is fastened by a cotton or wool chord to the spring unit, in most cases. A tufted mattress will normally have a firmer surface than a non-tufted/quilted surface. The reason for this is that the Tufting process actually holds the surface material and underlying fibre layers tightly together. This will create a tighter, firmer feel than a quilted mattress.
