Product Description

The Mayfair mattress is part of the stunning new Perfectly British Collection from Sleepeezee, a range of beds using British materials, designed to showcase exactly what Sleepeezee can offer. With almost 100 years of prestigious history and experience, Sleepeezee is one of the Country's foremost brands, and one of only two bed makers to hold the Royal Warrant. The new Mayfair mattress is a stunning example of what Sleepeezee's know-how and experience can offer.

The Mayfair mattress is a pillow top mattress, allowing the luxurious fillings inside to remain slightly looser than normal, and so offer a comfortable sleeping surface. This pillow top layer is built-in, not removable, and is packed full of wonderful fillings such as British Wool, Cotton and Cashmere. These layers are applied by hand and are completely breathable, meaning they're not only sumptuously comfortable to sleep on, but remain cool at all times.

Inside the Sleepeezee Mayfair is a 3200 pocket spring system. These springs are found across 3 layers, all doing slightly different things, but the result is a supportive mattress that boasts comfort and support in equal measure. The springs move up and down when weight is applied, moving like a piston to align themselves to the contours of the body. The outcome is that your posture is enhanced, preventing aches and pains from forming due to pressure points. These springs are designed to offer support and comfort, with the lower, foundation layer of springs being slightly more robust and firmer. The Sleepeezee SoftTech spring is a clever design that gives a truly extraordinary feel.
With pocket springs, each spring is removed from one another, unlike conventional springs, so they will only move as weight is applied to that particular spring, no compromise. This design sees the body enjoy accurate support - instantly.

As a pillow top mattress, the Sleepeezee Mayfair is designed in one direction, rather than being compromised through the requirement to flip it over. This means that everything in the mattress is built with weight moving in one direction only, offering a focussed and efficient bed. The Mayfair will require rotation once per Season (3 months), although we recommend this is done more often in the early weeks after delivery to ensure the fillings settle evenly.

Sleepeezee have finished this mattress with breather vents and handles, as well as wrapping it in a super soft damask cover, which is wonderfully tactile and comfortable. Moreoever; it is also very good at remaining cool and comfortable throughout the night. Sleepeezee has backed this mattress with a 10 year guarantee, and we will deliver it to the room of choice for FREE!

    Appalling product - never again
I bought the zip-and-link Mayfair mattress. It started to sag in the middle after 5 days and within a couple of months, the dip was about 2 inches deep. They sent an "expert" from FIRA who told us that it was our fault because the base was too old. Funny, but our old bed had less dip after 20 years. Don't buy this dreadful product!

    Good, but deeper than shown
It is a very good mattress indeed, superb, in fact, but it is slightly deeper than advertised.

Absolutely brilliant mattress loved it from day one and have recommended to all who would listen! Delivery drivers did a great job too, as our stairs are not easy to lift a mattress up!

Glossary

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Pressure Points

Pressure Points are created in the body when lying on a mattress which is not suitable for a persons physique. The Pressure Points are caused by putting stresses through the body. When the spine is not aligned correctly (i.e, straight), it can cause pressure to build up in the back, hips or shoulders (etc).

When a bed is too soft, the body sinks in, causing certain areas to be under the strain of the rest of the body. When a mattress is too hard/firm, then the weight applied can cause the body to flex/bend in the opposite way - causing a similar problem. Hips, shoulders and so on, are requried to be sunken into the mattress slightly more than the surrounding areas, as they carry the weight. When this is not the case, the lower back may be bent to compensate. The ideal mattress is one which will keep the spine straight.

  • Side Stitched

Side Stitching is the way in which the side of a mattress is finished. A traditional process, the Side Stitching technique applied by many high-end companies, is a highly-skilled profession and takes time and a great deal of experience to perfect. The technique involves passing a needle through the side of a mattress right the way through to the horizontal surfaces for additional strength and stability. This technique is normally the reserve of expensive, high-end mattresses.

Another technique applied more commonly in mid-range mattresses, is to simply attach the stitching to the spring unit in the mattress. Other manufacturers may simply use a material on the side of the mattress which appears to be side stitched, but actually is not.

  • Tufted

Tufting is a traditional and highly successful way of finishing a mattress surface. The end result makes the mattress appear to have dimples, or buttons dipping into the surface. This technique is designed to hold the surface materials together and to fix them to the core of the mattress to prevent the layers moving over time. A modern method is Spiral Tufting, which involves fixing the surface to the fillings and spring unit.

The actual tuft is usually made from a cotton felt material and is fastened by a cotton or wool chord to the spring unit, in most cases. A tufted mattress will normally have a firmer surface than a non-tufted/quilted surface. The reason for this is that the Tufting process actually holds the surface material and underlying fibre layers tightly together. This will create a tighter, firmer feel than a quilted mattress.
