The Sweet Dreams Empire mattress is part of the new Eden Collection. This deep, supportive mattress boasts a superb specification for the price tag, including 1000 Pocket Springs and a deep layer of luxuriously supportive memory foam.
The 1000 Pocket Springs at the core of this mattress will move like pistons, up and down as weight is applied. Each spring will compress as weight is applied to it, but as the springs are in their own 'pocket', they do not disturb the surrounding springs, and therefore the level of support is very accurate indeed. Furthermore; this means that there is minimal disturbance if your partner moves.
The Sweet Dreams Empire mattress is a foam encapsulated mattress, which sees a Memory Foam layer on all sides of the spring unit, creating strong and even sidewalls to the mattress. This increases the size of the comfortable sleeping surface by up to 10% (in a Double size), as you can sleep closer to the edge.
This is a no-turn mattress, only requiring rotation once per Season (although we recommend this is done more often in the first few early weeks after delivery). The surface is smooth and even, and the cover fabric is a silky soft stretch knit fabric that is as comfortable as it is durable.

- Pocket Sprung
Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.
By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.
If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.
