Product Description
For a short time only, we are offering you the best-selling Hypnos Pillow Top Grande mattress together with our divan base and headboard - all at a stunning price. This deal is for a very limited time only. This excellent Hypnos mattress is one of our most popular mattresses from any supplier and we're now combining it with a divan base and headboard from a bed maker in Yorkshire, offering you a superb deal that is too good to miss!
Have you ever wondered 'what mattress do the top hotels use'? Well, the Hypnos Pillow Top Grande mattress is the domestic specification of the hugely popular pillow top hotel mattress, used in some of the UK's premier hotels. This excellent mattress has ranked amongst our best sellers since it was introduced.
The Pillow Top Grande has thousands of Pocket Springs at its core and a deep layer of natural, breathable and supremely luxurious fibre fillings on the surface. This surface is known as a Pillow Top, as it is a deep cushion that appears to be a separate layer (although it cannot be removed). This layer is soft, comfortable and very luxurious. Combined with the supportive springs underneath, this Hypnos mattress is a superb blend of support and comfort.
Hypnos has pioneered a superb Pocket Spring system, the ReActive Spring. This spring gets firmer and more supportive as more body weight is applied. This clever technique sees the body get the perfect level of support, exactly where and when it is required - instantly. The ReActive spring responds to several thresholds of pressure, which results in the spring becoming firmer as more weight is applied. This means it is more supportive where it needs to be, usually the hips or shoulders.
The natural fillings used in this Hypnos favourite include British Lambs Wool and Cotton. The soft Pillow Top layer on the surface of this mattress offers a wonderfully comfortable and luxurious feel. The hand-applied tufts (the button-like appearance on the surface) ensures this mattress is as durable as it is comfortable.
The Pillow Top Grande boasts two rows of side stitched borders, and a luxurious, tactile Damask cover material. There are breather vents for moisture and heat management, further ensuring the most comfortable night sleep possible.
The base we have paired this mattress with is made to a very high standard and is available in a choice of sizes, colours and storage combinations. It is the same depth as a Hypnos base, and made to the exact same dimensions, as all UK beds are. We have chosen this non-branded base and headboard to pair with the Pillow Top Grande as they offer such incredible value for money. The base is backed by a 5-year warranty (the mattress has a 10-year guarantee).

Glossary
- Breathability
Mattresses need to breathe. With the amount of fillings and areas of space within a mattress, they can quickly hold heat and moisture. Over time this can influence the way a mattress behaves and also effect the life span of a mattress.Â
Manufacturers have developed different ways of tackling the problem of Breathability in mattresses. Some brands have used vents to allow air to pass through the mattress. Some brands use state-of-the-art materials to cover the mattress, such as Coolmax or Outlast. Memory Foam has a reputation of storing heat and moisture, as foam requires heat to soften up.Memory Foam brands have overcome this problem by applying Coolmax and Outlast, they also use Open Cell technology. This technique is to simply allow the foam to settle with larger spaces between the foam cells. This allows heat and moisture to move freely without getting trapped.
Some mattresses are created in such a way that they do not require any additional Breathability methods. These mattresses are generally the entry level mattresses with Open Coil spring units and not a great deal of fillings. - Fillings
The fillings of each mattress can differ from one another, but largely they include British Lambs Wool and Cotton. Some also feature Latex, Silk and Cashmere.
- Guarantee (Hypnos)
The Hypnos Guarantee extends for a Decade. Your new Hypnos mattress or base will have a leaflet with more information, as well as a form to be completed and sent to Hypnos directly.
- Pillow Top
A pillow top mattress is a relatively new development in the bedding industry. Originally the technique applied to the more expensive mattresses, the technique has been perfected to such an extent that the prices have fallen the Pillow Top is much more widely available. Known as the Euro Top by American retailers, the design was originally on the wider market a few years ago, and is now a common site in bedrooms around the World. The idea is to separate the surface fillings from the core of the mattress itself. This results in more support and more comfort. Many traditional mattresses fasten the surface fillings to the spring unit in the mattress. A Pillow Top mattress has a distinct separate layer for the fillings and therefore reacts independently to the spring unit, resulting in less dipping and a solid feel. The technique also offers greater edge-to-edge support.
Pillow tops can take many forms nowadays. A deep layer on the surface which contains memory foam. Another technique of Pillow Top mattress is the Silentnight Treasure mattress. A shallower, quilt like style. All in all, this type of mattress is continuing to go from strength to strength and would appear to be here to stay.
- Pocket Sprung
Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.
By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.
If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same. - Pressure Points
Pressure Points are created in the body when lying on a mattress which is not suitable for a persons physique. The Pressure Points are caused by putting stresses through the body. When the spine is not aligned correctly (i.e, straight), it can cause pressure to build up in the back, hips or shoulders (etc).
When a bed is too soft, the body sinks in, causing certain areas to be under the strain of the rest of the body. When a mattress is too hard/firm, then the weight applied can cause the body to flex/bend in the opposite way - causing a similar problem. Hips, shoulders and so on, are requried to be sunken into the mattress slightly more than the surrounding areas, as they carry the weight. When this is not the case, the lower back may be bent to compensate. The ideal mattress is one which will keep the spine straight. - Turn / No Turn
Some mattresses require turning over, to aid even settlement. Others do not require turning, but will still require rotating.
