QWhat Is The Best Mattress For Back Pain?
If you tend to suffer from back pain or neck pain, there are various mattresses specifically designed to provide your body with maximum support and comfort while you sleep. Although your sleeping conditions will factor into the equation of buying a new mattress, there are other factors you must consider too, including comfort grade, alternatively known as firmness level e.g., soft, medium, firm. We recommend a medium to firm mattress for back pain sufferers – this is because a mattress that is too soft could lead to misaligning the spine as your body will sink into the mattress, rather than provide support.
In addition, lower back pain is typically the result of a mattress that is not offering enough support, particularly if this pain wears off throughout the day. Upper back pain can be due to the mattress being too soft, but could also be the result of using the wrong type of pillow. Back pain can be the result of many factors, not all related to your bed. If a problem continues, medical advice may be required.

QWhat To Look for When Buying a Mattress?
There are various factors to consider when it comes to looking for a new mattress. The main three are: your specific needs or conditions, comfort, and filling / spring types. In addition, reviews, warranty, and the overall cost also play a vital role.

QDo I Need To Turn My Mattress?
There are turn and no turn mattresses available. The difference between the two, is that turnable mattresses require turning on a regular basis to ensure your mattress receives equal wear and doesn’t dip on one side, which will essentially cause you discomfort in the long term. We recommend rotating your mattress every 3 months. No turn mattresses are designed where only one side of the mattress should be slept on and therefore should not be turned or flipped.

QHow Often Should I Replace My Mattress?
In general, you should replace your mattress every 6-8 years. However, if it is negatively impacting your sleep or you notice damage in certain areas that is causing you discomfort, it’s a sure fire sign to upgrade your mattress.
QHow Deep Is a Mattress?
The average mattress on the market today is around 24cm deep. However, some are as shallow as 14cm and some as deep as 40cm. The depth of a mattress is not necessarily linked to its quality or comfort, but when comparing two similar mattresses, it may be a factor and could indicate the amount of fillings involved. As an important side note; mattresses for use with bunk beds may have a maximum depth requirement, which should be checked before a mattress is purchased.
QWhich Mattresses Can Be Used on Slatted Beds?
All mattresses are suitable for use on a slatted bedstead or bed base. There can be some mattresses that perform better on these types of bases, due to the increased air circulation (latex or foam, for example). It is very important that the wooden or metal slats on the bed in question are not more than 7cm apart from each other, and should ideally be around 3-4cm wide as a minimum. Otherwise, the mattress can be damaged beyond repair as the internal parts can work their way between the slats.
