Product Description

One of our most popular Package Deals - the Hypnos Harrow and our own non-branded bed and headboard. This wonderful mattress is a superb specification, backed with a 10-year guarantee and handmade, it ranks among our best sellers. We have combined this excellent mattress with our own non-branded divan base and headboard to provide a stunningly good value deal. This base and headboard are made to very high standards and compliment the high quality mattress perfectly.

The Hypnos No Turn Harrow mattress builds on the many years of experience that this Royal Warrant holder has gained over the generations. This pocket-sprung mattress is designed to offer all the comfort and support that you would expect of a Hypnos mattress. This mattress is pocket-sprung and contains wonderfully comfortable and supportive natural fillings of Cotton and Wool.

This traditionally made mattress is built by hand in Buckinghamshire and is backed by Hypnos' full 10-year guarantee. The detailing is superb and stands as a testament to the skilled craftsmen and women at Hypnos.

The Harrow mattress is built around a Pocket Spring unit, but unlike other pocket springs on the market, this spring actually gets firmer as more weight is applied, enabling this mattress to instantly support the body and to do so perfectly. As some areas of the body carry more weight than others, they compress the mattress further, areas such as the hips and shoulders. As those areas press into the mattress further, the springs in that area will compress more. Hypnos' springs then start to get firmer, and so you can be assured that the support offered in those areas is exactly what is needed. The outcome is improved posture and, therefore, the prevention of pressure points from forming. The Harrow mattress' springs recognise 6 different levels of firmness and will adjust itself accordingly, ensuring support is always perfect and instant.

As well as having an excellent spring unit, this Hypnos No Turn mattress has layers of luxurious, natural fillings. As there is only one sleeping surface, these layers can be padded more deeply than usual, increasing the comfort offered. These fillings include Cotton and Wool and are applied by hand to ensure evenness and consistency across the sleeping surface.

Hypnos has tufted the Harrow mattress to keep the fillings in place throughout its long lifespan. There is also side stitching on the mattress, which makes the sidewalls stronger and increases the size of the comfortable sleeping surface. This mattress is finished in a silky smooth cocona-infused damask material, which is as tactile as it is natural, breathable and durable. There are also breather vents and handles for easy movement when required.

The divan base and headboard that we've paired the Harrow with are of excellent quality and are made by hand. Our bed maker in Yorkshire has decades of experience and provides non-branded bases and headboards for all our package deals. Indeed, most of us here at MyNextMattress have a base and headboard made by them!

Choose from a range of storage options and headboards, then choose your fabric of choice. The base and headboard will be made especially for you, and we deliver to the room of your choice for free!

Glossary

  • Breathability

Mattresses need to breathe. With the amount of fillings and areas of space within a mattress, they can quickly hold heat and moisture. Over time this can influence the way a mattress behaves and also effect the life span of a mattress.

Manufacturers have developed different ways of tackling the problem of Breathability in mattresses. Some brands have used vents to allow air to pass through the mattress. Some brands use state-of-the-art materials to cover the mattress, such as Coolmax or Outlast. Memory Foam has a reputation of storing heat and moisture, as foam requires heat to soften up.Memory Foam brands have overcome this problem by applying Coolmax and Outlast, they also use Open Cell technology. This technique is to simply allow the foam to settle with larger spaces between the foam cells. This allows heat and moisture to move freely without getting trapped.

Some mattresses are created in such a way that they do not require any additional Breathability methods. These mattresses are generally the entry level mattresses with Open Coil spring units and not a great deal of fillings.

  • Fillings

The fillings of each mattress can differ from one another, but largely they include British Lambs Wool and Cotton. Some also feature Latex, Silk and Cashmere.

  • Guarantee (Hypnos)

The Hypnos Guarantee extends for a Decade. Your new Hypnos mattress or base will have a leaflet with more information, as well as a form to be completed and sent to Hypnos directly.

  • Pillow Top

A pillow top mattress is a relatively new development in the bedding industry. Originally the technique applied to the more expensive mattresses, the technique has been perfected to such an extent that the prices have fallen the Pillow Top is much more widely available. Known as the Euro Top by American retailers, the design was originally on the wider market a few years ago, and is now a common site in bedrooms around the World. The idea is to separate the surface fillings from the core of the mattress itself. This results in more support and more comfort. Many traditional mattresses fasten the surface fillings to the spring unit in the mattress. A Pillow Top mattress has a distinct separate layer for the fillings and therefore reacts independently to the spring unit, resulting in less dipping and a solid feel. The technique also offers greater edge-to-edge support.

Pillow tops can take many forms nowadays. A deep layer on the surface which contains memory foam. Another technique of Pillow Top mattress is the Silentnight Treasure mattress. A shallower, quilt like style. All in all, this type of mattress is continuing to go from strength to strength and would appear to be here to stay.

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Pressure Points

Pressure Points are created in the body when lying on a mattress which is not suitable for a persons physique. The Pressure Points are caused by putting stresses through the body. When the spine is not aligned correctly (i.e, straight), it can cause pressure to build up in the back, hips or shoulders (etc).

When a bed is too soft, the body sinks in, causing certain areas to be under the strain of the rest of the body. When a mattress is too hard/firm, then the weight applied can cause the body to flex/bend in the opposite way - causing a similar problem. Hips, shoulders and so on, are requried to be sunken into the mattress slightly more than the surrounding areas, as they carry the weight. When this is not the case, the lower back may be bent to compensate. The ideal mattress is one which will keep the spine straight.

  • Turn / No Turn

Some mattresses require turning over, to aid even settlement. Others do not require turning, but will still require rotating.
