The Althorpe is based around a Pocket Spring unit, which uses the Hypnos ReActive Spring System. This spring reacts according to the weight energy applied. So areas where more weight is applied will receive a firmer feel. This is achieved by creating the spring in a specific way, resulting in pressure thresholds. These thresholds are referred to as 'Turns' by Hypnos, and are incredibly clever and effective. The more compression the spring experiences, the more Turns it will go through and gradually strengthen.

The Althorpe Orthopaedic has a deep layers of natural fillings, which include British Lambs Wool and Cotton. These layers are applied by hand to ensure a consistent and even feel. This not only produces a luxurious and comfortable sleeping surface, but also increases the durability of the mattress.
