Product Description

The Hypnos Elite Deluxe mattress is a superb, limited edition mattress from one of the World's premier bed makers. Hypnos has been producing beds and mattresses of the highest quality for generations, and is a Royal Warrant holder, supplying the Royal household. This Hypnos mattress is made to the same high standards as any of their mattresses and is a limited edition mattress created to offer you all the Hypnos benefits with a low price tag.

This Hypnos mattress is designed to offer a more supportive feel, but not to compromise on the comfort, balancing both perfectly, the Elite Deluxe is a very popular mattress indeed and will leave you to awake refreshed and rejuvenated each morning. Thanks to Hypnos' high standards of finish and excellent attention to detail, the Newham is built to last, which is underlined by the 10-year guarantee.

The Hypnos Elite Deluxe mattress is built around a pocket spring unit, boasting 1000 pocket springs. Whilst there are other mattresses on the market with more springs, a Hypnos spring is slightly wider than most as it is 'reactive' and actually gets firmer as more weight is applied. This clever technology means the mattress will increase support in the areas that need it most. As body weight compresses the springs within the mattress, they get firmer and more supportive. With a conventional spring; the same level of pressure will see it compress all the way. With a Hypnos spring; you need to apply more and more pressure to compress it, which means that areas like your hips or shoulders (with more weight) will receive more support, stopping pressure points from forming and preventing any aches and pains.

As well as the excellent pocket springs, Hypnos has hand-applied layers of natural fillings in the mattress, including British Lambs Wool, Cotton and Solotex (recycled cotton and wool). All these fillings are breathable and will ensure the mattress remains cool and comfortable at all times. Acting as a luxurious sleeping surface, these fillings all work in harmony to provide a comfortable top layer that is as durable as it is comfortable. Hypnos have hand-tufted this mattress to ensure the fillings remain in place throughout the mattress' long life span, backing it up with a 10-year guarantee. The tufts not only keep the fillings in place but also allow for the precise firmness of the mattress to be consistent throughout.

This is a no-turn mattress and will require rotation (spinning around) once per season (although we recommend fortnightly for the first two months), alternating between the two. There are handles for easy movement when required. This Hypnos ortho mattress is suitable for divan bases and slatted bases, as long as the slats are not more than 7.5cm apart from each other.

Please note; as this is a limited edition mattress, the cover fabric may vary slightly but is always a white and off-white pattern.

Glossary

  • Breathability

Mattresses need to breathe. With the amount of fillings and areas of space within a mattress, they can quickly hold heat and moisture. Over time this can influence the way a mattress behaves and also effect the life span of a mattress.

Manufacturers have developed different ways of tackling the problem of Breathability in mattresses. Some brands have used vents to allow air to pass through the mattress. Some brands use state-of-the-art materials to cover the mattress, such as Coolmax or Outlast. Memory Foam has a reputation of storing heat and moisture, as foam requires heat to soften up.Memory Foam brands have overcome this problem by applying Coolmax and Outlast, they also use Open Cell technology. This technique is to simply allow the foam to settle with larger spaces between the foam cells. This allows heat and moisture to move freely without getting trapped.

Some mattresses are created in such a way that they do not require any additional Breathability methods. These mattresses are generally the entry level mattresses with Open Coil spring units and not a great deal of fillings.

  • Fibre Most mattresses will have layers of fillings under the surface to increase comfort and separate the spring units from the surface. The most common fillings used in mattresses are cotton, wool and polyester among others. Mattresses require fillings to create a soft surface tension on which to sleep. The fillings normally compliment the internal spring unit by adding comfort to the support offered (by the spring unit) The tension of the surface fillings can be tuned by the density in which they are packed as well as by the method in which they are bound together. Tufting results in a slightly firmer feel than quilting.
  • Fillings

The fillings of each mattress can differ from one another, but largely they include British Lambs Wool and Cotton. Some also feature Latex, Silk and Cashmere.

  • Firmness

MyNextMattress is developing a new and unique solution to the Firmness scale accuracy. Not seen anywhere else in the World, we will be measuring the Firmness of all our mattresses precisely and in detail.

We are the only company in the Country that will actually measure the Firmness of a mattress and give a grading out of 10. We are always aware that choosing your next mattress can be a difficult and time consuming process, therefore we strive to give as much information as possible on every mattress we sell.

The way our system works is by applying weight to a mattress. We will apply weight gradually and measure the amount the mattress dips. The more weight, the more the mattress will 'sink'. We would then measure the distance the mattress dips and plot these measurements (weight and distance) on a graph. This graph can then be used to tell us the Firmness category the mattress fits into, 7 out of 10 for instance.

Our Firmness Device provides a central rod which we apply weights to, on the bottom end there is a disc which pushes into the mattress. The top of this rod supports the weights and will sink according to the 'give' in a mattress. We measure from this point.

As a result of this unique technique, it will be possible for you to shop by the firmness of a mattress, this is not possible anywhere else.

  • Hypoallergenic

Put simply, Hypoallergenic materials do not cause the amount of irritation that non-hypoallergenic materials can. Hypoallergenic materials can still cause irritation in some cases, the chances of this are reduced greatly. People with severe allergies and asthma may still have problems with items called hypoallergenic, but the risk is greatly reduced.

Hypoallergenic materials do not omit the same particles and fibres as other non-hypoallergenic materials. These particles are to blame for causing irritation and discomfort and in some cases the irritation can be dangerous. The Hypoallergenic properties of these materials can be created by number of techniques. Some materials (Memory Foam or Latex) are naturally hypoallergenic, others have been chemically treated.

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Tension

    Another word for Firmness.

  • Tufted

Tufting is a traditional and highly successful way of finishing a mattress surface. The end result makes the mattress appear to have dimples, or buttons dipping into the surface. This technique is designed to hold the surface materials together and to fix them to the core of the mattress to prevent the layers moving over time. A modern method is Spiral Tufting, which involves fixing the surface to the fillings and spring unit.

The actual tuft is usually made from a cotton felt material and is fastened by a cotton or wool chord to the spring unit, in most cases. A tufted mattress will normally have a firmer surface than a non-tufted/quilted surface. The reason for this is that the Tufting process actually holds the surface material and underlying fibre layers tightly together. This will create a tighter, firmer feel than a quilted mattress.
