A rare gem

You never know how good a company is until something goes wrong. In my case the issue was with the manufacturer not My Next Mattress. Throughout the period of my complaint this company have been 100% supportive, communication rapid and have lived up to their promise. In this world of commerce I feel I have had personal service of the highest quality. Our initial contact was also excellent and our mattress was delivered quickly and efficiently. Wouldn't go anywhere else from now on.

Customer focused

Customer focused, competitive, helpful and very efficient. Only issue I had was MNM omitted to include the agreed return of my old bed on the delivery documents, probably an oversight but caused me some inconvenience hence 4 stars.

Product Description

As part of the Pillow Top Collection, the Ruby is designed to offer a supremely soft and luxurious feel. The sumptuous nature of this mattress has been likened to being enveloped in a cloud. The Pillow Top range is a relatively new line of beds from Hypnos, who have long been making incredibly high quality beds, but traditionally with a medium/firm feel. The Pillow Top mattresses have become hugely popular in a short space of time.

The Pillow Top Ruby is part of the 5 bed strong Pillow Top range, and sits close to the entry level model. Designed to offer an excellent specification for the money, the Ruby is punching well above it's weight. The Ruby is soft and comfortable, but it also contains the ReActive Spring System. This Pocket Spring unit offers a level of support that has not been offered by any manufacturer before. The spring becomes firmer as more weight is applied, and this enables the parts of the body that require more support (the hips and shoulders etc) to receive more support. This Pocket Spring unit offers a level of support that has not been offered by any manufacturer before. The spring becomes firmer as more weight is applied, and this enables the parts of the body that require more support (the hips and shoulders etc) to receive more support. This spring has 8 different pressure thresholds built into it, and as more and more energy is applied, the spring passes through these thresholds and becomes firmer. Simple, but extremely effective. This clever spring offers true orthopaedic support, even on a soft feeling bed, such as the Ruby.

This mattress is handmade, and each material, component and element are picked to offer the very best levels of comfort and durability. The surface layers of this mattress are applied by hand, and kept in a relatively low density, to further improve the softer feel this mattress offers. These comfortable layers of fillings include British Lambs Wool Silk & Solotex. The surface layers are bound in place by hand tufting, and this is a key aspect of the high quality beds that Hypnos offer. The tufting process is a highly skilled job, and very difficult to do well. The tufts bind the surface layers to the core of the mattress, and refine the overall firmness of the bed. This detail also ensures the surface layers remain intact and remain even and consistent throughout the anticipated 15-20 year lifespan of the mattress.

As well as the natural fillings on the surface of the mattress being breathable, this bed has air vents on all sides to encourage air to pass through, further increasing the comfort and durability of the bed. As this is a no-turn mattress, the Pillow Top Ruby only requires rotation once per Season. We recommend that the mattress is rotated more often in the early stages of it's life to ensure the initial settlement phase is efficient.

The Hypnos Spring Unit is a special design. With a conventional spring, a continued application of pressure will compress the spring completely. With a Hypnos spring, you can apply a certain amount of pressure and collapse the spring only so far, you have to apply more pressure to compress the spring further.

This gradual and progressive response from the spring allows for perfect support - not too firm, not too soft. The spring has been treated with various thresholds throughout, known as Active Turns, and it is these Active Turns that allow for the perfect amount of support.

The Hypnos Guarantee extends for a Decade. Your new Hypnos mattress or base will have a leaflet with more information, as well as a form to be completed and sent to Hypnos directly.

Put simply, Hypoallergenic materials do not cause the amount of irritation that non-hypoallergenic materials can. Hypoallergenic materials can still cause irritation in some cases, the chances of this are reduced greatly. People with severe allergies and asthma may still have problems with items called hypoallergenic, but the risk is greatly reduced.

Hypoallergenic materials do not omit the same particles and fibres as other non-hypoallergenic materials. These particles are to blame for causing irritation and discomfort and in some cases the irritation can be dangerous. The Hypoallergenic properties of these materials can be created by number of techniques. Some materials (Memory Foam or Latex) are naturally hypoallergenic, others have been chemically treated.

Orthopaedic mattresses are usually the firmest mattresses on the market. A common mistake made by those with back pain, is to assume that a firm Orthopaedic mattress will be the solution. Personal comfort and a correct diagnosis of the cause of the pain should always be saught before purchasing an Orthopaedic mattress.

Many brands have 'Ortho' mattresses. Terms used include 'Backcare' or 'Orthocare' and the theme is generally to produce a firmer feeling mattress. The idea is to create a mattress that the body can rest on without sinking in and bending the spine, causing pressure to build up. However, if a lighter person lays on a firmer mattress, they will find the spine will not align correctly as the loaded parts of the body (shoulders, hips etc) are not sitting correctly. For more information on the causes of back pain, click here or read about another solution in the Zoning description.

Orthos is Hypnos' term for Orthopaedic. Hypnos use this term for several, Medium/Firm mattresses.

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

Similar to the ReActive spring, but further refined. The UltraSens has more Turns (see above) and has a slightly softer finish on the extreme ends of the spring.
