Product Description

This mattress has now been discontinued. The current model that matches this specification the closest is the Hypnos Pillow Top Celestial. Click here to view the current Hypnos Pillow Top Range.

The Hypnos Pillow Top Sapphire is top of the Pillow Top Collection. This model boasts a deep layer of Alpaca on the surface. The Pillow Top Sapphire also features the now famous ReActive Spring unit, which is unique to Hypnos. The Sapphire actually features one layers of the 10 Turn ReActive springs, offering both comfort and support to an incredible level. As with all Hypnos brochure models, the Pillow Top Sapphire comes complete with a 10 Year Guarantee.

Hypnos launched the Pillow Top Collection at a bed show in late 2010, and it has been one of our most popular ranges ever since. The Sapphire is the top of this collection, and looks the part. This model is only available in the one tension. The attention to detail of this model is stunning, as you would expect from Hypnos.

This Hypnos bed features three rows of side stitched borders, increasing the edge-to-edge support. This results in increased side wall strength, allowing you to comfortably use more of the mattress surface. The Sapphire also has 12 air vents, assisting the flow of air and moisture, maintaining a cool and comfortable mattress as well as increasing the life span of the bed.

The Sapphire has flag-stitched handles to aid movement when necessary, although it is a non-turn mattress. The Pillow Top Sapphire is the deepest Hypnos mattress, at just short of a foot thick. Layer upon layer of sumptuous fillings are added by hand and finished with a layer of luxurious Solotex. The alpaca adds comfort for the body instantly and perfectly, offering absolutely perfect support and comfort like no other mattress can offer.

The base of this Hypnos bed is finished to the same standard as the mattress. Built by Hypnos' master craftsmen and women, Hypnos bases have dove tail joints, solid support frames and very strong drawers. There is a choice of 29 stunning colours and materials.

We deliver all Divans and Mattresses (excluding single size mattresses) to the room of choice, where we will unpack the goods and remove all packaging for recycling. Once the bed is received and inspected at our warehouse, we will contact you to arrange for delivery on a date and at a time that suits you.

Glossary

  • Fibre Most mattresses will have layers of fillings under the surface to increase comfort and separate the spring units from the surface. The most common fillings used in mattresses are cotton, wool and polyester among others. Mattresses require fillings to create a soft surface tension on which to sleep. The fillings normally compliment the internal spring unit by adding comfort to the support offered (by the spring unit) The tension of the surface fillings can be tuned by the density in which they are packed as well as by the method in which they are bound together. Tufting results in a slightly firmer feel than quilting.
  • Latex

Latex is the ultimate in luxurious natural materials (but can be synthetic in other markets). Latex is actually found in more than 10% of flowering plants around the world. About 20,000 species from more than 40 families. The Latex used in the bedding industry is taken from sustainable sources. Latex is perfect for mattresses because it is soft, hypoallergenic, natural and moulds to the shape of the body.

Latex used in bedding also tends to be treated in such a way that it can be used by people who have Latex allergies! The technique used is to super heat the Latex unit, freeze it, super heat it and freeze it again. Once this process is complete, the harmful chemicals released can be chemically washed off, leaving it suitable for everyone. Latex is the material Memory Foam has tried to copy. Memory foam  requires heat to mould to the shape of your body and can therefore become too warm for some. Latex does not require heat and is soft at any temperature. As a natural material which requires time and various processes to be extracted, Latex can be more expensive that its rival materials, but the comfort levels achieved are well worth it.

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.
