Product Description

The Hypnos Wool Origins 10 mattress is a new mattress from the UK's foremost bedmaker. This mattress is part of the latest generation of beds and mattresses from Hypnos and boasts the latest developments without compromising the huge experience and pedigree that has been built over the years, including the award of the Royal Warrant. The Hypnos Wool Origins 10 mattress is a deep, luxurious mattress with reinforced sidewalls and sumptuous natural fillings.

This Hypnos mattress has a Pocket Spring unit at its core. Each spring moves up and down like a piston as weight is applied, instantly conforming to the contours of the body to promote good posture and prevent pressure points from forming, which are the common cause of aches and pains. These springs are set within a fabric 'pocket' of their own, which prevents them from affecting surrounding springs when in movement, and the result is accurate support.
Hypnos has taken this a step further, however, and their ReAactive Pocket Springs recognise the pressure being applied, and so get firmer as more weight is added. This means that the heavier parts of your body (hips and shoulders) will exert more weight, but will also be supported by a firmer and more supportive spring. This mattress uses the ReActive 10 turn spring (hence the number 10 in the name of this mattress).

The new generation of mattresses, including the Wool Origins 10 mattress, are now being made with the ReActivePro spring unit. This is another simple evolution of the Pocket Spring and sees a firmer perimeter of springs used, resulting in a firmer and more stable sidewall, which is very supportive. So much so, in fact, that we cannot think of another mattress we offer that has stronger sides than this Hypnos mattress!

Ths Wool Origins 10 is topped off with luxury fillings that perfectly complement the supportive springs inside. The Wool Origins collection has huge amounts of traceable, assured wool, all applied by hand to ensure an even finish. This mattress has over 7 fleeces of pure wool inside. Wool will naturally maintain body temperature and moisture levels throughout the night, helping to keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter, but it’s also naturally antibacterial, making it an ideal material for use in beds. The Wool Origins 10 features an extra layer of breathable natural Talalay latex. Sustainably sourced and absolutely luxurious, this material is extremely resilient but also soft, adding a luxurious feel to the bed, and will instantly mould to the body's contours.

As a tufted mattress, the Hypnos Origins 10 features dimple-like features on the surface, a sign that a cord has been passed through to bind the fillings in place. This process also ensures a precise level of firmness across the mattress and increases durability.

    Not worth the money
The mattress felt ok initially, but lacked softness to the touch, as I expecetd with a wool mattress. After a few months, two distinctive dips formed where we sleep as this is wool - it does not recover back no matter how much you turn it. I raised a request to Hypnos and they came and inspected it, but said the dips are "within expectations", so declined changing it. As a result we are stuck with this mattress and wish we purchased a much cheaper one like Relaxsan which we used to own in the past (not natural however). To summarise, there is no support due to the dip and the feel is quite hard on the surface, so I had to purchase a wool topper. Overall not worth the money in my opinion. MyNextMattress were very supporting throughout the whole process, no not their fault at all.

Wonderfully comfortable and exactly what we wanted
We are very pleased with this new mattress. It is supportive and very comfortable and every bit as good as the older Hypnos mattress it now replaces.

  3. Keith Burgess Says:

    Medium firm
Obviously a very high quality construction and yes, it does conform to your contours every night, but recovers each day. I weigh 11-1/2 stone and for me the medium softness (there isn’t a soft option) is actually very slightly firmer than I would personally prefer, but not bad at all.. I followed the recommendations and turned it over every other week and end to end every other week, alternating, for 12 weeks. It is 62kg (that’s nearly 150 lbs.) of dead, unco-operative weight, so turning it end to end is a puff and turning it over is an ordeal if you are on your own. The average wife would NOT cope alone. However, after that it’s supposed to be ‘seasonal’ turn…..but I will continue to turn it end to end weekly and turn it over every few weeks (deep breath and resolve - I am over 70). It cost such a lot of money that I want the best from it! Being a widower, I now sleep alone, so I swap which side of the bed I sleep on every week, also to even out wear. I am a mattress slave! However, you get back what you put in and I am proud to own a high quality, British made mattress that’s not simply layers of ‘memory foam’ - horrid sweaty stuff that it is. Yes, I can certainly recommend this mattress, but look at the Wool Origins 6 or 8, both of which will serve you well at a less eye-watering price.

    Waste of money!
The edge of the mattress is very sturdy while the middle area of the mattress completely sinks in causing a very uneven sleeping surface. Both myself and my husband started getting back pain after using this mattress. I absolutely regret purchasing this mattress.

Yes, we can certainly remove the old mattress when we deliver the new Hypnos Wool Origins 10 Mattress.

What are the benefits of buying a Hypnos mattress?

Hypnos mattresses give the benefit of offering excellent support at all times. The springs that they use will get more supportive as they compress under bodyweight, and so the comfort is not compromised.

Does the Hypnos Wool Origins 10 Mattress need turning over?

Yes, the Hypnos Wool Origins 10 Mattress requires turning over and rotating. We suggest this is done every 12 weeks, alternating between the two. We also suggest that this process is done weekly for the first month to ensure even settlement.

The Hypnos Wool Origins 10 Mattress is made in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, England.

Glossary

  • Active Turns (Hypnos)

The Hypnos Spring Unit is a special design. With a conventional spring, a continued application of pressure will compress the spring completely. With a Hypnos spring, you can apply a certain amount of pressure and collapse the spring only so far, you have to apply more pressure to compress the spring further.

This gradual and progressive response from the spring allows for perfect support - not too firm, not too soft. The spring has been treated with various thresholds throughout, known as Active Turns, and it is these Active Turns that allow for the perfect amount of support.

  • Firmness

MyNextMattress is developing a new and unique solution to the Firmness scale accuracy. Not seen anywhere else in the World, we will be measuring the Firmness of all our mattresses precisely and in detail.

We are the only company in the Country that will actually measure the Firmness of a mattress and give a grading out of 10. We are always aware that choosing your next mattress can be a difficult and time consuming process, therefore we strive to give as much information as possible on every mattress we sell.

The way our system works is by applying weight to a mattress. We will apply weight gradually and measure the amount the mattress dips. The more weight, the more the mattress will 'sink'. We would then measure the distance the mattress dips and plot these measurements (weight and distance) on a graph. This graph can then be used to tell us the Firmness category the mattress fits into, 7 out of 10 for instance.

Our Firmness Device provides a central rod which we apply weights to, on the bottom end there is a disc which pushes into the mattress. The top of this rod supports the weights and will sink according to the 'give' in a mattress. We measure from this point.

As a result of this unique technique, it will be possible for you to shop by the firmness of a mattress, this is not possible anywhere else.

  • Guarantee (Hypnos)

The Hypnos Guarantee extends for a Decade. Your new Hypnos mattress or base will have a leaflet with more information, as well as a form to be completed and sent to Hypnos directly.

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Turn / No Turn

Some mattresses require turning over, to aid even settlement. Others do not require turning, but will still require rotating.

  • Turns (Hypnos)

This relates to the ReActive and UltraSens spring units. The term Turn is the number of points that the spring has been heat treated, therefore the number of pressure thresholds it can respond to.
