J. Marshall No. 2 Mattress

The J. Marshall by Vispring No. 2 Mattress is part of the collection of four mattresses that Vispring have created to pay tribute to James Marshall, pioneer of the pocket spring and the founder of Vispring. The No. 2 mattress is packed full of wonderfully comfortable, natural fillings and is built around a 1200 pocket spring mattress. Vispring's mattresses have been regarded as the finest in the World for decades, and thanks to Mr Marshall, the pocket spring is also regarded as the finest spring system in the bed market.

The Number Two mattress in this collection has 1200 individually pocketed springs, all working on their own to compress and conform to the contours of the body, preventing pressure points from forming and promoting good posture. Each spring sits within its own fabric 'pocket' and so has no interaction with its neighbouring springs, this makes the pocket spring extremely precise, not compromised as other springs are compressed. These springs have other benefits too; they're silent when moving, they prevent roll-together and roll-off, and also contain a lot of air, which can move through the mattress to maintain a comfortable temperature at all times.

The J. Marshall No. 2 mattress has deep layers of natural fillings on the sleeping surface, comprised of Wool, Tencel, Bamboo and Alpaca. The fillings are not only supremely comfortable, but they're also completely natural, allowing for breathability as well as comfort. The fillings are also excellent deterrents of bed bugs and dust mites, particularly Wool. These layers are applied by hand to ensure the finish is even and consistent.

Vispring have tufted this mattress, which is where the dimple like features on the surface come from. This method of passing a cord through the mattress requires great skill and results in the mattress maintaining a precise level of firmness, as well as increasing durability. As this is a turnable mattress, the fillings are applied to the top and bottom.

This mattress has been finished in a high-quality damask material, a woven fabric that is as durable as it is comfortable and tactile. The Number Two mattress has flag stitched handles for easy movement when required, as well as breather vents to further aid ventilation.
