Product Description

The Relyon Cumbria 2500 Pillow Top Mattress is a beautifully handcrafted mattress made in Somerset, England. This wonderfully comfortable Pillow Top mattress is made to the very highest standards and is supremely luxurious. With a combination of 2500 pocket springs and natural fillings including British mountain-bred wool and a blend of wool and Alpaca, this mattress provides exceptional total body support and comfort, and a feeling of sleeping on a cloud.

The 2500 pocket springs work independently to prevent roll-together and adapt to your body's contours, offering individual support and comfort. The wool and Alpaca blended layer provides a luxurious and durable layer of comfort, with Alpaca fibres being naturally hypoallergenic and able to regulate body temperature. The 100% British mountain-bred wool layer offers extra insulation and comfort, while the pillowtop provides extra cushioning and softness.

The mattress is hand-tufted with wool tufts to ensure all the fillings are securely in place, and the 3 rows of hand side stitching secure the outer springs to the border, preventing roll-out and adding strength to the edges of the mattress. The firm perimeter support adds even more strength to the edge of the mattress, allowing you to use the whole surface of the mattress as a sleeping area.

The Belgian damask cover adds a soft, fresh, and hygienic sleeping surface, and the flag-stitched handles make it easy to position the mattress. With medium tension, it's suitable for people who change sleeping positions, and with no need to turn the mattress, it's easy to care for. Regular rotation from head to toe will extend its life span.

The Relyon Cumbria 2500 Pillow Top Mattress is a beautifully well-made mattress with exceptional quality materials and construction techniques. With its combination of pocket springs and natural fillings, it provides exceptional total body support and comfort, making it the perfect choice for anyone looking for a comfortable, supportive, and sustainable mattress. And with a 10-year guarantee, you can rest easy knowing you're making a wise investment.

Good but a bit squishy. Hard to explain but could be too soft on top for some.

    Deep and comfy but.....
This is a deep and comfy mattress, but it is a bit soft on the edges. Not a problem in a Double size or bigger but I would not recommend this mattress for a single size bed.

Took around a week to get used too
Was undecided as it felt a tad firmer than I wanted but I seem to have adjusted to it.

Glossary

  • Breathability

Mattresses need to breathe. With the amount of fillings and areas of space within a mattress, they can quickly hold heat and moisture. Over time this can influence the way a mattress behaves and also effect the life span of a mattress.

Manufacturers have developed different ways of tackling the problem of Breathability in mattresses. Some brands have used vents to allow air to pass through the mattress. Some brands use state-of-the-art materials to cover the mattress, such as Coolmax or Outlast. Memory Foam has a reputation of storing heat and moisture, as foam requires heat to soften up.Memory Foam brands have overcome this problem by applying Coolmax and Outlast, they also use Open Cell technology. This technique is to simply allow the foam to settle with larger spaces between the foam cells. This allows heat and moisture to move freely without getting trapped.

Some mattresses are created in such a way that they do not require any additional Breathability methods. These mattresses are generally the entry level mattresses with Open Coil spring units and not a great deal of fillings.

  • Fibre Most mattresses will have layers of fillings under the surface to increase comfort and separate the spring units from the surface. The most common fillings used in mattresses are cotton, wool and polyester among others. Mattresses require fillings to create a soft surface tension on which to sleep. The fillings normally compliment the internal spring unit by adding comfort to the support offered (by the spring unit) The tension of the surface fillings can be tuned by the density in which they are packed as well as by the method in which they are bound together. Tufting results in a slightly firmer feel than quilting.
  • Fillings

The fillings of each mattress can differ from one another, but largely they include British Lambs Wool and Cotton. Some also feature Latex, Silk and Cashmere.

  • Firmness

MyNextMattress is developing a new and unique solution to the Firmness scale accuracy. Not seen anywhere else in the World, we will be measuring the Firmness of all our mattresses precisely and in detail.

We are the only company in the Country that will actually measure the Firmness of a mattress and give a grading out of 10. We are always aware that choosing your next mattress can be a difficult and time consuming process, therefore we strive to give as much information as possible on every mattress we sell.

The way our system works is by applying weight to a mattress. We will apply weight gradually and measure the amount the mattress dips. The more weight, the more the mattress will 'sink'. We would then measure the distance the mattress dips and plot these measurements (weight and distance) on a graph. This graph can then be used to tell us the Firmness category the mattress fits into, 7 out of 10 for instance.

Our Firmness Device provides a central rod which we apply weights to, on the bottom end there is a disc which pushes into the mattress. The top of this rod supports the weights and will sink according to the 'give' in a mattress. We measure from this point.

As a result of this unique technique, it will be possible for you to shop by the firmness of a mattress, this is not possible anywhere else.

  • Flag Stitched

Flag Stitching is the method in which handles are sewn to the sides of mattresses.

Flag Stitching is a robust and durable method normally the reserve of more expensive mattresses (due to the extra time and skill required).

  • Pillow Top

A pillow top mattress is a relatively new development in the bedding industry. Originally the technique applied to the more expensive mattresses, the technique has been perfected to such an extent that the prices have fallen the Pillow Top is much more widely available. Known as the Euro Top by American retailers, the design was originally on the wider market a few years ago, and is now a common site in bedrooms around the World. The idea is to separate the surface fillings from the core of the mattress itself. This results in more support and more comfort. Many traditional mattresses fasten the surface fillings to the spring unit in the mattress. A Pillow Top mattress has a distinct separate layer for the fillings and therefore reacts independently to the spring unit, resulting in less dipping and a solid feel. The technique also offers greater edge-to-edge support.

Pillow tops can take many forms nowadays. A deep layer on the surface which contains memory foam. Another technique of Pillow Top mattress is the Silentnight Treasure mattress. A shallower, quilt like style. All in all, this type of mattress is continuing to go from strength to strength and would appear to be here to stay.

  • Tufted

Tufting is a traditional and highly successful way of finishing a mattress surface. The end result makes the mattress appear to have dimples, or buttons dipping into the surface. This technique is designed to hold the surface materials together and to fix them to the core of the mattress to prevent the layers moving over time. A modern method is Spiral Tufting, which involves fixing the surface to the fillings and spring unit.

The actual tuft is usually made from a cotton felt material and is fastened by a cotton or wool chord to the spring unit, in most cases. A tufted mattress will normally have a firmer surface than a non-tufted/quilted surface. The reason for this is that the Tufting process actually holds the surface material and underlying fibre layers tightly together. This will create a tighter, firmer feel than a quilted mattress.

  • Tufts

This is the dimple like way of binding the various layers of the mattress together. A cord is fasted from the bottom of the mattress to the top, and held tightly in place.

  • Turn / No Turn

Some mattresses require turning over, to aid even settlement. Others do not require turning, but will still require rotating.
