Product Description

The Sleepeezee Jessica mattress is a new addition to the range. This mattress pays homage to the famous Olympic heptathlete, Jessica Ennis-Hill, who is working alongside Sleepeezee to highlight the importance of sleep, health and well-being. This stunning mattress offers all the support and comfort needed to ensure a rejuvenating night's sleep. Exactly what's needed after a long day's training!

The Sleepeezee Jessica mattress boasts a supportive core of 1800 pocket springs. The springs are divided into two layers with different functions. The top layer is composed of smaller springs, offering comfort and 'fine-tuned' support, whereas the main spring unit is made of larger springs that ensure you have the right level of support. Each spring works independently to mirror the contours of your body without being compromised by the surrounding ones. As each spring is compressed, it moves down like a piston providing instant support for your spine.

On top of the spring unit, Sleepeezee has added layers of luxurious fillings. The top layer is Memory Foam which slowly conforms to your body, working in harmony with the various fillings and springs beneath it. This foam layer uses your body weight and warmth to keep support and comfort optimal at all times.

Underneath the foam layer is a deep layer of Staycool Gel. The Gel layer is similar to foam, but reacts even quicker and is pressure-sensitive, working in harmony with the foam above and the springs below. As the name suggests, the Staycool Gel is designed to regulate your temperature throughout the night.

In addition to the already incredible specifications, the Jessica mattress is foam encapsulated, so you can sleep right the way up to the edge without roll-off. For further comfort and durability, there is a soft, knitted cover. This is a no-turn mattress allowing easy care. It is also backed by Sleepeezee’s 10-year guarantee.

For every Jessica mattress sold, Sleepeezee donates £20 to The Children’s Hospital Charity. This supports one of Jessica’s long-held charitable interests in her home city and helps contribute towards a brilliant cause. You can read more about The Children's Hospital Charity here.

Glossary

  • Breathability

Mattresses need to breathe. With the amount of fillings and areas of space within a mattress, they can quickly hold heat and moisture. Over time this can influence the way a mattress behaves and also effect the life span of a mattress.

Manufacturers have developed different ways of tackling the problem of Breathability in mattresses. Some brands have used vents to allow air to pass through the mattress. Some brands use state-of-the-art materials to cover the mattress, such as Coolmax or Outlast. Memory Foam has a reputation of storing heat and moisture, as foam requires heat to soften up.Memory Foam brands have overcome this problem by applying Coolmax and Outlast, they also use Open Cell technology. This technique is to simply allow the foam to settle with larger spaces between the foam cells. This allows heat and moisture to move freely without getting trapped.

Some mattresses are created in such a way that they do not require any additional Breathability methods. These mattresses are generally the entry level mattresses with Open Coil spring units and not a great deal of fillings.

  • Diamond Stitching

Diamond Stitching is the technique in which the surface materials are held together. Designed to create a soft and smooth finish, and can vary in the exact style and pattern used. Many manufacturers will have several designs of Diamond Stitching and each will vary slightly.

Mattresses will (usually) have fibres and layers of materials directly under the surface to create a comfortable feel. These fibres and materials require holding together to prevent movement over time (a body moving on the surface night after night can shift the location of the fibres). There are several ways of achieving this, Tufting and Diamond Stitching are the most common.

  • Fillings

The fillings of each mattress can differ from one another, but largely they include British Lambs Wool and Cotton. Some also feature Latex, Silk and Cashmere.

  • Firmness

MyNextMattress is developing a new and unique solution to the Firmness scale accuracy. Not seen anywhere else in the World, we will be measuring the Firmness of all our mattresses precisely and in detail.

We are the only company in the Country that will actually measure the Firmness of a mattress and give a grading out of 10. We are always aware that choosing your next mattress can be a difficult and time consuming process, therefore we strive to give as much information as possible on every mattress we sell.

The way our system works is by applying weight to a mattress. We will apply weight gradually and measure the amount the mattress dips. The more weight, the more the mattress will 'sink'. We would then measure the distance the mattress dips and plot these measurements (weight and distance) on a graph. This graph can then be used to tell us the Firmness category the mattress fits into, 7 out of 10 for instance.

Our Firmness Device provides a central rod which we apply weights to, on the bottom end there is a disc which pushes into the mattress. The top of this rod supports the weights and will sink according to the 'give' in a mattress. We measure from this point.

As a result of this unique technique, it will be possible for you to shop by the firmness of a mattress, this is not possible anywhere else.

  • Flag Stitched

Flag Stitching is the method in which handles are sewn to the sides of mattresses.

Flag Stitching is a robust and durable method normally the reserve of more expensive mattresses (due to the extra time and skill required).

  • Foam Encapsulation

Foam Encapsulation is a recent addition to the bedding market. An idea designed to offer greater edge-to-edge support as well offering greater Bedstead/Slatted base compatibility.

The idea is simple; Create a spring unit and then sit it in a 'matchbox' of Foam. As you can see in the diagram below, the spring unit is surrounded on all sides by a layer of Memory Foam. This foam gives a solid, stable feel to the mattress and allows the spring unit to be completely separated from the mattresses fillings and cushion.

Once the spring unit is set in the foam and the foam glued together, it can be surrounded by fillings and fibre to create the traditional look for a mattress or can be given a Pillow Top for even more comfort.

  • Orthopaedic

Orthopaedic mattresses are usually the firmest mattresses on the market. A common mistake made by those with back pain, is to assume that a firm Orthopaedic mattress will be the solution. Personal comfort and a correct diagnosis of the cause of the pain should always be saught before purchasing an Orthopaedic mattress.

Many brands have 'Ortho' mattresses. Terms used include 'Backcare' or 'Orthocare' and the theme is generally to produce a firmer feeling mattress. The idea is to create a mattress that the body can rest on without sinking in and bending the spine, causing pressure to build up. However, if a lighter person lays on a firmer mattress, they will find the spine will not align correctly as the loaded parts of the body (shoulders, hips etc) are not sitting correctly. For more information on the causes of back pain, click here or read about another solution in the Zoning description.

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Pressure Points

Pressure Points are created in the body when lying on a mattress which is not suitable for a persons physique. The Pressure Points are caused by putting stresses through the body. When the spine is not aligned correctly (i.e, straight), it can cause pressure to build up in the back, hips or shoulders (etc).

When a bed is too soft, the body sinks in, causing certain areas to be under the strain of the rest of the body. When a mattress is too hard/firm, then the weight applied can cause the body to flex/bend in the opposite way - causing a similar problem. Hips, shoulders and so on, are requried to be sunken into the mattress slightly more than the surrounding areas, as they carry the weight. When this is not the case, the lower back may be bent to compensate. The ideal mattress is one which will keep the spine straight.

  • Turn / No Turn

Some mattresses require turning over, to aid even settlement. Others do not require turning, but will still require rotating.
