Product Description

Winner!
The SleepSoul Space 2000 mattress has been listed as a Which? Magazine Best Buy award winner, and has since had this award extended again! This mattress was applauded for its value for money. The judges also stated: "This is a durable mattress that is easy to turn on, breathable and provides acceptable support overall, especially if you prefer to sleep on your front." The Space mattress was put through a number of tests and scored 5 out of 5 in all durability tests, including "change in height", "change in body support", "change in firmness" and many more!

The SleepSoul Space 2000 mattress is the top-of-the-range model from this hugely popular range. Designed to provide excellent comfort, support and durability, the Space mattress is a superb mattress with superb specifications and an incredible price tag. This Pillow Top mattress has two layers of Pocket Springs and a deep layer of foam on the surface.

The Space mattress has 800 Pocket Springs in the centre of this mattress, providing the support needed to prevent aches and pains formed through pressure points. The Pocket Springs will move up and down like a piston as weight is applied, creating a very accurate level of support that is targeted to a small area. These springs are wrapped in fabric, which ensures that there is no interference to a neighbouring spring when under compression.

The Space mattress then features another layer of smaller 1200 Pocket Springs inside the Pillow Top. The Pillow Top looks like a removable layer on top of the mattress, but is built-in and will provide a very comfortable sleeping surface. These springs function in the same way as the mini-springs but are smaller and more responsive, designed for comfort rather than support. On top of these mini-springs are two layers of Memory Foam, which add a very comfortable feel to the sleeping surface.

This SleepSoul mattress is a no-turn mattress that only requires rotation (spinning around) once per season (although we recommend it more often in the first few weeks after delivery).

This mattress is vacuum rolled and packed into a box, making it the perfect choice for those with access issues. Once opened, the Space mattress will rapidly inflate, but we recommend leaving for around 4hrs before use.

This excellent SleepSoul mattress is among our best sellers and has been for some time now. Take a look through the SleepSoul space 2000 reviews below, and see what other customers had to say! We would love to have your feedback too, so be sure to add your comments to the SleepSoul space mattress reviews.

Frequently Asked Questions -
16 Answers

Does this mattress come rolled up?

The SleepSoul Space mattress is vacuum rolled and then put into a box. This makes it excellent for transport and for getting up tight staircases. Once carefully opened up, the Space mattress should be given around 4hrs to fully expand.

Can this mattress go on a divan base. At 35cm deep this would make the bed very high!

Yes, the SleepSoul Space Mattress can be placed on a divan base, no problem at all. The average divan base is 38cm deep, and this mattress is 35cm, so this would result in 73cm depth, which is higher than average.

If I turn over will it affect my partner and vice versa

No, the SleepSoul Space mattress is the perfect type of mattress to resolve that sort of issue. The foam layer and pocket spring combination will eliminate energy transfer far more efficiently than other mattresses on the market.

Is the SleepSoul Space mattress medium or firm

We have classed the SleepSoul Space mattress as being Medium to Firm. The top layer is relatively soft, but the core is a firmer spring system that provides good support.

Who makes the SleepSoul Space mattress?

The SleepSoul Space mattress is supplied by Birlea, based in Derbyshire, England.

How often should I rotate my Sleep Soul pocket Space mattress?

We would recommend rotating the SleepSoul Space mattress every 12 weeks or so, but we also suggest doing so more often in the first few weeks after delivery to ensure even settlement.

Can I put the SleepSoul Space Mattress (or any foam mattress )on a sprung edge divan base?

Yes, the SleepSoul Space mattress has a limit of 300kg.

Can the SleepSoul Space 2000 mattress be placed on top of a wooden slatted base?

Can the cover of the SleepSoul Space 2000 mattress be removed?

No, the SleepSoul Space 2000 mattress has a non-removable cover.

Can the top layer be removed from the Space mattress?

Is the SleepSoul Space 2000 mattress definitely 35cm = to 14inches depth

Yes, the SleepSoul Space 2000 mattress is 35cm deep.

Do you take the old mattress away for recycling when I buy the SleepSoul Space 2000 mattress?

Yes, we do! You'll see this option in the checkout when you purchase the SleepSoul Space mattress. We would do this at the same time as the delivery for you.

How long does it taken to unroll the SleepSoul Space mattress before we can use it?

We would recommend giving the Space mattress as long as possible, but in reality you would be looking at around 4hrs before use.

Glossary

  • Firmness

MyNextMattress is developing a new and unique solution to the Firmness scale accuracy. Not seen anywhere else in the World, we will be measuring the Firmness of all our mattresses precisely and in detail.

We are the only company in the Country that will actually measure the Firmness of a mattress and give a grading out of 10. We are always aware that choosing your next mattress can be a difficult and time consuming process, therefore we strive to give as much information as possible on every mattress we sell.

The way our system works is by applying weight to a mattress. We will apply weight gradually and measure the amount the mattress dips. The more weight, the more the mattress will 'sink'. We would then measure the distance the mattress dips and plot these measurements (weight and distance) on a graph. This graph can then be used to tell us the Firmness category the mattress fits into, 7 out of 10 for instance.

Our Firmness Device provides a central rod which we apply weights to, on the bottom end there is a disc which pushes into the mattress. The top of this rod supports the weights and will sink according to the 'give' in a mattress. We measure from this point.

As a result of this unique technique, it will be possible for you to shop by the firmness of a mattress, this is not possible anywhere else.

  • Memory Foam

Memory Foam was invented by NASA in 1966. The idea was to improve the safety of aircraft cushions, but it was not long before th material was developed further and used in more and more products. Memory Foam is an open cell construction, which reacts to body heat and weight. The more heat applied, the softer the material gets. This, in turn, allows the weight applied to sink deeper. Memory Foam can be made at various densities to result in different tensions/firmnesses.

The crucial element of Memory Foam is that it softens and moulds to the body shape. This ability allows for very accurate contour support and weight distribution. This ability makes Memory Foam a desirable material for mattresses. Some mattresses are completely Memory Foam, perhaps using different layers of various densities. Some mattresses use Memory Foam to compliment a Spring Unit.

As Memory Foam requires heat to achieve its desired state, the heat is stored. Some people are not keen on Memory Foam as this heat can gradually build, resulting in a warm bed. However, this stereotype can be seen as outdated, as many manufacturers have solved the issue by applying new techniques to compliment the Foam. Techniques such as Outlast and Coolmax. Memory Foam is also Hypoallergenic and is therefore very popular with Asthma and Allergy sufferers.

  • Pillow Top

A pillow top mattress is a relatively new development in the bedding industry. Originally the technique applied to the more expensive mattresses, the technique has been perfected to such an extent that the prices have fallen the Pillow Top is much more widely available. Known as the Euro Top by American retailers, the design was originally on the wider market a few years ago, and is now a common site in bedrooms around the World. The idea is to separate the surface fillings from the core of the mattress itself. This results in more support and more comfort. Many traditional mattresses fasten the surface fillings to the spring unit in the mattress. A Pillow Top mattress has a distinct separate layer for the fillings and therefore reacts independently to the spring unit, resulting in less dipping and a solid feel. The technique also offers greater edge-to-edge support.

Pillow tops can take many forms nowadays. A deep layer on the surface which contains memory foam. Another technique of Pillow Top mattress is the Silentnight Treasure mattress. A shallower, quilt like style. All in all, this type of mattress is continuing to go from strength to strength and would appear to be here to stay.

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Pressure Points

Pressure Points are created in the body when lying on a mattress which is not suitable for a persons physique. The Pressure Points are caused by putting stresses through the body. When the spine is not aligned correctly (i.e, straight), it can cause pressure to build up in the back, hips or shoulders (etc).

When a bed is too soft, the body sinks in, causing certain areas to be under the strain of the rest of the body. When a mattress is too hard/firm, then the weight applied can cause the body to flex/bend in the opposite way - causing a similar problem. Hips, shoulders and so on, are requried to be sunken into the mattress slightly more than the surrounding areas, as they carry the weight. When this is not the case, the lower back may be bent to compensate. The ideal mattress is one which will keep the spine straight.

  • Warranty

Every mattress we sell comes with at least a 12 month manufacturers guarantee, though most come with much longer guarantees. To find out what mattress warranty is included with your purchase, look out for the rosette on the top right corner of the mattress page. All new goods are sold with a minimum 12-month manufacturers guarantee. Full details are available on request. In addition to the manufacturers guarantee MyNextMattress offers a limited extended mattress warranty. This warranty varies in length item by item. You must keep all your purchase records as they will be needed in the event of a claim. The warranty is applied as follows:

    • The mattress warranty is against faults in manufacture, not wear and tear or damage.
    • The mattress must always be used with a mattress protector, turned and cleaned as per the manufacturers instructions and must be unsoiled at the time that the claim is lodged.
    • The claim must be registered with MyNextMattress by email or in writing. All details of the claim must be lodged with MyNextMattress by email or in writing.

If the claim is accepted the following process will apply:

    • We will arrange to collect the goods and return them to us for inspection.
    • The carrier reserves the right to refuse to collect items that are not packaged suitably or which is unhygienic.
    • We may require pre payment for the costs of the collection in some circumstances.
    • If we validate the claim we will contact you to arrange the replacement goods to be dispatched to you and delivered to you on a date that is convenient for you.
    • The replacement item can be any item from our then current range.
    • The difference in price from the warranty covered item is payable by you, along with the cost of collecting the original item.

There will be an allowance granted against the replacement item according to the following scale.

    • If the claim is validated within the first two years - 40% of the original price will be credited.
    • If the claim is validated in year three of the purchase -25% of the original price will be credited.
    • If the claim is validated in year four of the purchase - 15% of the original price will be credited.
    • If the claim is validated in year five or (if warranty is for longer than five years then any subsequent year up to the warranty period) -10% of the original price will be credited.

The warranty is only applicable to the original purchaser and is only valid if approved by MyNextMattress. It should be considered as extra peace of mind in case of manufacturing defects that arise after the manufacturers mattress guarantee has expired. It should not be regarded as a guarantee that any item will last for any particular period of time, or as a guarantee against deterioration in performance. It is in addition to your statutory rights. There is no entitlement to a cash payment in lieu of the replacement. The replacement item must be at the same or higher price than the original.
