Product Description
THIS ITEM IS DISCONTINUED.
The Sealy Keswick is part of the contract range from this World famous bed manufacturer. The Keswick was initially intended for the Hotel market, but the popularity of the bed with Hotel guests has lead to the Keswick becoming a popular orthopaedic model with households.
The Sealy Keswick mattress boasts superb value for money. This mattress has a deep layer of natural fillings, a supportive and durable spring unit and a very tactile cover material. This bed was designed for the demanding Hotel and B&B market, where durability is as important as comfort and support. The Keswick has many great features, not least the price!
The Sealy PostureTech Spring System was designed with assistance from the American Orthopedic Advisory Board and has been refined with their assistance over the years. This spring system will promote perfect posture as well as limiting energy echoes experienced when sharing the bed.
The Keswick also features Sealy Edge Guard Technology, ensuring the side walls of the mattress remain strong and supportive. This will actually increase the size of the comfortable sleeping area, particularly useful for Single or Double-sized mattresses.
The surface of this mattress comprises of natural fillings and fibres. These layers are then bound in place by the hand tufting technique, perfect for assuring durability and also assuring you of a consistent and even surface.
The sidewalls of the Sealy Keswick mattress are complete with handles for easy movement (although we do all lifting and unpacking upon delivery). This mattress also has air vents to ensure the mattress remains cool and dry throughout it's long life span.

Glossary
- Fibre Most mattresses will have layers of fillings under the surface to increase comfort and separate the spring units from the surface. The most common fillings used in mattresses are cotton, wool and polyester among others. Mattresses require fillings to create a soft surface tension on which to sleep. The fillings normally compliment the internal spring unit by adding comfort to the support offered (by the spring unit) The tension of the surface fillings can be tuned by the density in which they are packed as well as by the method in which they are bound together. Tufting results in a slightly firmer feel than quilting.
- Hypoallergenic
Put simply, Hypoallergenic materials do not cause the amount of irritation that non-hypoallergenic materials can. Hypoallergenic materials can still cause irritation in some cases, the chances of this are reduced greatly. People with severe allergies and asthma may still have problems with items called hypoallergenic, but the risk is greatly reduced.
Hypoallergenic materials do not omit the same particles and fibres as other non-hypoallergenic materials. These particles are to blame for causing irritation and discomfort and in some cases the irritation can be dangerous. The Hypoallergenic properties of these materials can be created by number of techniques. Some materials (Memory Foam or Latex) are naturally hypoallergenic, others have been chemically treated. - Orthopaedic
Orthopaedic mattresses are usually the firmest mattresses on the market. A common mistake made by those with back pain, is to assume that a firm Orthopaedic mattress will be the solution. Personal comfort and a correct diagnosis of the cause of the pain should always be saught before purchasing an Orthopaedic mattress.
Many brands have 'Ortho' mattresses. Terms used include 'Backcare' or 'Orthocare' and the theme is generally to produce a firmer feeling mattress. The idea is to create a mattress that the body can rest on without sinking in and bending the spine, causing pressure to build up. However, if a lighter person lays on a firmer mattress, they will find the spine will not align correctly as the loaded parts of the body (shoulders, hips etc) are not sitting correctly. For more information on the causes of back pain, click here or read about another solution in the Zoning description.
