The eco Champion mattress is built around a core of 4000 supportive Pocket Springs. Each spring moves up and down like a piston as weight is applied, moving independently thanks to the fabric pockets they're sat within. The fact that the springs are all independent from one another means that has pressure is applied to one spring, and it moves, it has no impact on the surrounding springs, resulting in very precise and uncompromised support. The 4000 springs in this Shire Beds mattress work to offer a subtle, medium level of support, but as weight is applied the compression results in a firming of the support, ideal for the heavier regions of the body (lumbar and shoulder regions).

This is a foam encapsulated mattress, which means that the core of the mattress is sat inside a matchbox construction of foam, adding support to the sidewalls of the mattress and increasing the comfortable sleeping surface by up to 10% (in a Double size).

Shire Beds have applied layer upon layer of wonderfully comfortable fillings to the mattress. These layers are breathable - ensuring the mattress keeps cool, and they complement the springs perfectly. The fillings include Wool, Silk,Horsehair and Cashmere.

This is a smooth, quilted mattress, finished in a soft and tactile cover which is as durable as it is luxurious. The cover is a Tencel fabric, a natural material which is able to draw away excess heat and moisture when needed.
