Product Description

Have you ever wondered which mattress would be best for keeping you cool at night? How can you stay cool at night in those hot summer nights? Well, Sleepeezee has introduced the Cooler Supreme mattress, which could be the answer! This mattress is designed with not only comfort and support in mind but has been specifically produced to ensure you're kept cool and comfortable at all times. This mattress is almost cold to the touch at first, a refreshing and welcome option for those who get too hot at night.

Sleepeezee have not simply finished this excellent mattress in a cooling cover, the thought process goes much deeper, and affects all aspects of the mattress. This mattress has a deep layer (2cm) of gel foam on the sleeping surface, together with a deep foundation layer of fibre fillings. These layers combine to offer a soft, luxurious and temperature-responsive sleeping surface. This surface layer has been made as a 'pillow top' layer. This is built-in, but looks like a duvet on top of the mattress, and is made as such to allow the surface layers to remain slightly looser, and therefore softer.

Underneath the pillow top layer is a membrane of fibre fillings, in high density, ensuring good support. This membrane layer separates the sleeping surface from the pocket spring unit underneath. These pocket springs move like pistons as weight is applied, supporting the body perfectly, as and when required with no compromise. Sleepeezee have made this spring system from a double-decker unit, meaning there are 800 smaller springs on top of 1000 larger ones. This blend of springs means the Cooler Supreme can offer more precise, comfortable support initially, whilst the larger, firmer springs underneath will offer greater support. The end result of this system is that the body is held in perfect posture, preventing aches and pains that can form overnight.

As well as the springs being excellent for support, they have air inside, which allows the mattress to have air flowing through at all times, thanks to the breather vents on the sides. Sleepeezee have also finished the Cooler Supreme mattress in a cooling, woven 'Cool-Tech' cover, which draws heat and moisture away from the surface of the mattress, keeping you comfortable and cool throughout the night.

Glossary

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Pressure Points

Pressure Points are created in the body when lying on a mattress which is not suitable for a persons physique. The Pressure Points are caused by putting stresses through the body. When the spine is not aligned correctly (i.e, straight), it can cause pressure to build up in the back, hips or shoulders (etc).

When a bed is too soft, the body sinks in, causing certain areas to be under the strain of the rest of the body. When a mattress is too hard/firm, then the weight applied can cause the body to flex/bend in the opposite way - causing a similar problem. Hips, shoulders and so on, are requried to be sunken into the mattress slightly more than the surrounding areas, as they carry the weight. When this is not the case, the lower back may be bent to compensate. The ideal mattress is one which will keep the spine straight.

  • Side Stitched

Side Stitching is the way in which the side of a mattress is finished. A traditional process, the Side Stitching technique applied by many high-end companies, is a highly-skilled profession and takes time and a great deal of experience to perfect. The technique involves passing a needle through the side of a mattress right the way through to the horizontal surfaces for additional strength and stability. This technique is normally the reserve of expensive, high-end mattresses.

Another technique applied more commonly in mid-range mattresses, is to simply attach the stitching to the spring unit in the mattress. Other manufacturers may simply use a material on the side of the mattress which appears to be side stitched, but actually is not.

  • Tufted

Tufting is a traditional and highly successful way of finishing a mattress surface. The end result makes the mattress appear to have dimples, or buttons dipping into the surface. This technique is designed to hold the surface materials together and to fix them to the core of the mattress to prevent the layers moving over time. A modern method is Spiral Tufting, which involves fixing the surface to the fillings and spring unit.

The actual tuft is usually made from a cotton felt material and is fastened by a cotton or wool chord to the spring unit, in most cases. A tufted mattress will normally have a firmer surface than a non-tufted/quilted surface. The reason for this is that the Tufting process actually holds the surface material and underlying fibre layers tightly together. This will create a tighter, firmer feel than a quilted mattress.
