Product Description

The Hypnos Wool Origins 6 mattress is a best-selling, award-winning mattress that has been hugely popular since it was first introduced. The mattress is handmade and filled with luxurious, natural materials. We have now paired this mattress with our own non-branded divan base and headboard, creating a package deal that offers stunning value for money. The mattress is Hypnos, the base is our own. The combination of the two results in a package deal that provides a blissful night's sleep without breaking the bank.

The Hypnos Wool Origins 6 mattress is the very best of what Hypnos offers. A stunning mattress that is handmade, backed by a 10-year guarantee and is filled with only the finest natural fillings. Hypnos' Origins Collection was designed to showcase the unique and carefully selected source of the fillings used, tracing them right back to their origins. Indeed, Hypnos is one of the few brands that are Red Tractor assured, and they've been working with the UK's farmers for many years.

Not only does Hypnos have a dedication to accurate and sustainable sourcing of their fillings, but they also go the extra mile in terms of environmental friendliness. All Hypnos mattresses are fully recyclable and are zero-to-landfill, not something most manufacturers can state. Hypnos' mattresses are also free of chemicals and the covers are not bleached either.

This is a luxury, turnable mattress that has reinforced sidewalls and a supremely luxurious feel. The Wool Origins 6 is built around a ReActive Pocket Spring unit. The Pocket Springs all work like pistons, up and down as pressure is applied, conforming to the contours of the body and promoting good posture, which prevents pressure points from forming. Hypnos' Pocket Spring goes a step further and will get firmer as more weight is applied. These 'ReActive' springs are very simple yet effective, supporting the body exactly where the support is needed, instantly. This mattress has the ReActive 6 turn spring, meaning it recognises 6 different pressure levels (hence the "6" in the name of this mattress).

The base options with this package deal are numerous and very well made. You can choose from a choice of storage options, a choice of fabrics and a range of headboards too. All are made to your own specifications and are made for you by the factory in Yorkshire. We deliver the full set to the room of choice for you, for free, as standard.

    Great value and good delivery
Recommend this to anyone. Best mattress ever and great price. Loses a star because one of the drawers was stiff, took 2mins to sort, fine now.

    Good deal
This is definitely a good deal, no question. Only 4 stars out of 5 because the delivery had to be arranged because the headboard came in wrong.

Very well made bed and very comfortable mattress
We were a little dubious about opting for a non-branded base and headboard, but we need not have worried. The quality is better than most of the beds we saw in the shops. Delivery lads were lovely.

Well made and good value for money
Overall, a great bed. We were a bit dubious as it was a quick delivery and a good price (too good to be true?) but we needn't have worried, we're very pleased and have had a good nights sleep for a few weeks now.

Does the divan base come in 2 parts or 1 ? Thanks

Hello. The base will come in two parts, which then link tightly together.

is it a Hypnos Sprung Base? Are there option for the feet?

This is the solid top base and the feet are the standard Hypnos castors. Please contact us if you would like to order differently.

How many pocket springs does your Hypnos pillow top mattress please?

Hypnos do not reveal their spring counts as their springs are quite unique, however, we can confirm it is in the thousands.

What is the earliest delivery date?

Hello. The delivery date can be chosen in the checkout, but we're currently advertising around 3-4 weeks.

Hi I have 2 questions. It appears that your headline price should include the divan, mattress and headboard but it seems as though the headboard is actually £249 extra and not included in the price.

The package deal is with or without the headboard. The headboard is currently priced additionally but we do run promotions for this, so please get in touch.

Can you tell me if the firm has used plastic clips on the mattress for this bed. I got a new mattress 6 mouths ago and its like sleeping on buttons with the clips?

This mattress has woollen tufts, which do have a plastic clip inside, but you cannot feel this and the wool is ample, enough to cover it completely.

Glossary

  • Breathability

Mattresses need to breathe. With the amount of fillings and areas of space within a mattress, they can quickly hold heat and moisture. Over time this can influence the way a mattress behaves and also effect the life span of a mattress.

Manufacturers have developed different ways of tackling the problem of Breathability in mattresses. Some brands have used vents to allow air to pass through the mattress. Some brands use state-of-the-art materials to cover the mattress, such as Coolmax or Outlast. Memory Foam has a reputation of storing heat and moisture, as foam requires heat to soften up.Memory Foam brands have overcome this problem by applying Coolmax and Outlast, they also use Open Cell technology. This technique is to simply allow the foam to settle with larger spaces between the foam cells. This allows heat and moisture to move freely without getting trapped.

Some mattresses are created in such a way that they do not require any additional Breathability methods. These mattresses are generally the entry level mattresses with Open Coil spring units and not a great deal of fillings.

  • Fillings

The fillings of each mattress can differ from one another, but largely they include British Lambs Wool and Cotton. Some also feature Latex, Silk and Cashmere.

  • Guarantee (Hypnos)

The Hypnos Guarantee extends for a Decade. Your new Hypnos mattress or base will have a leaflet with more information, as well as a form to be completed and sent to Hypnos directly.

  • Pillow Top

A pillow top mattress is a relatively new development in the bedding industry. Originally the technique applied to the more expensive mattresses, the technique has been perfected to such an extent that the prices have fallen the Pillow Top is much more widely available. Known as the Euro Top by American retailers, the design was originally on the wider market a few years ago, and is now a common site in bedrooms around the World. The idea is to separate the surface fillings from the core of the mattress itself. This results in more support and more comfort. Many traditional mattresses fasten the surface fillings to the spring unit in the mattress. A Pillow Top mattress has a distinct separate layer for the fillings and therefore reacts independently to the spring unit, resulting in less dipping and a solid feel. The technique also offers greater edge-to-edge support.

Pillow tops can take many forms nowadays. A deep layer on the surface which contains memory foam. Another technique of Pillow Top mattress is the Silentnight Treasure mattress. A shallower, quilt like style. All in all, this type of mattress is continuing to go from strength to strength and would appear to be here to stay.

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Pressure Points

Pressure Points are created in the body when lying on a mattress which is not suitable for a persons physique. The Pressure Points are caused by putting stresses through the body. When the spine is not aligned correctly (i.e, straight), it can cause pressure to build up in the back, hips or shoulders (etc).

When a bed is too soft, the body sinks in, causing certain areas to be under the strain of the rest of the body. When a mattress is too hard/firm, then the weight applied can cause the body to flex/bend in the opposite way - causing a similar problem. Hips, shoulders and so on, are requried to be sunken into the mattress slightly more than the surrounding areas, as they carry the weight. When this is not the case, the lower back may be bent to compensate. The ideal mattress is one which will keep the spine straight.

  • Turn / No Turn

Some mattresses require turning over, to aid even settlement. Others do not require turning, but will still require rotating.
