The Natural Orthos Classic mattress features the Hypnos ReActive™ 5 Turn pocket spring system. The Hypnos ReActive spring unit is one of the best quality spring units available today, and the 5 turn version used here offers total body support making it perfect for those who prefer a firmer feel mattress. Hypnos never state the number of springs in their mattresses, only the number of turns in each spring. A smart tailored border provides excellent edge support, reducing the sensation of roll-off and allowing you to use more of the mattress' sleeping surface.
Sustainable and natural fillings are at the comfort center of the Natural Ortho Classic. The ReActive Spring Unit is sandwiched between layers of British wool, sustainably sourced from Red Tractor assured farms. This wool is not only comfortable but complementary to the spring support. The natural properties of wool help to keep you cool and dry throughout the night. Additional luxury is provided by an eOlus™ recycled fibre comfort pad which cushions you without losing the firmer feel to the Natural Ortho Classic mattress.

- Active Turns (Hypnos)
The Hypnos Spring Unit is a special design. With a conventional spring, a continued application of pressure will compress the spring completely. With a Hypnos spring, you can apply a certain amount of pressure and collapse the spring only so far, you have to apply more pressure to compress the spring further.
This gradual and progressive response from the spring allows for perfect support - not too firm, not too soft. The spring has been treated with various thresholds throughout, known as Active Turns, and it is these Active Turns that allow for the perfect amount of support.
- Fibre Most mattresses will have layers of fillings under the surface to increase comfort and separate the spring units from the surface. The most common fillings used in mattresses are cotton, wool and polyester among others. Mattresses require fillings to create a soft surface tension on which to sleep. The fillings normally compliment the internal spring unit by adding comfort to the support offered (by the spring unit) The tension of the surface fillings can be tuned by the density in which they are packed as well as by the method in which they are bound together. Tufting results in a slightly firmer feel than quilting.

This relates to the ReActive and UltraSens spring units. The term Turn is the number of points that the spring has been heat treated, therefore the number of pressure thresholds it can respond to.
