Product Description

The Harrison Spinks Knighton mattress features a luxurious pillow top layer, offering superb pressure relief with a super-luxurious feel.  The Knighton mattress is hand made by some of the best bedmakers in the country, using sustainable, responsibly sourced materials.

Harrison Spinks mattresses are legendary for their exqusite natural fillings, and the Knighton mattress is no exception. Within the core section of the mattress, layers of suatainable Ecotex - a material made from recycled plastic fibres - cushion the core springs. The pillow top layer is then filled with a British wool blend, as well as an Egyptian cotton and mohair blend, with a soft viscose wool blend just beneath the in-house woven mattress cover. These natural fibres help give the Knighton 8250 mattress a sumptuos feel, without losing any of the excellent pocket sprung support.

The natural fibres are chosen each for individual qualities too - wool and viscose for their supportive and breathable qualities, cotton and mohair for their softening, cooling nature. Ecote is a recycled fibre that is incredibly durable and, importantly, recyclable again at the end of the mattress' life.

There are a whopping 8250 total pocket springs in a (kingsize) Knighton mattress, with multiple layers of different springs to provide the perfect amount of support where you need it most. The base layer of springs in the mattress core is a layer of Posturfil pocket springs that help seta  secure base, with Advanced Cortec Quad springs sitting on top of them. These springs provide the majority of support in the mattress, keeping your body stable and wel balanced as you lay on the bed, and even as you move on it. Micro springs are then added to the pillowtop layer. These springs provide pinpoint-accurate support, mocro-adjusting to your body and contouring to the shappe of the sleeper, providing incredible pressure relief.

The Knighton mattress is hand tufted to secure the natural fibres. This Harrison Spinks mattress is chemical free and features an in-house woven mattress cover to finish. This is a pillow top mattress that does not require turning to maintain, only rotating. We recommend a seasonal rotation, with increased frequency in the first weeks after purchase. This is to allow the natural elements of the mattress to settle correctly.

The Knighton 8250 mattress has been made using sustainable manufacturing methods with responsibly sourced materials. This mattress is fully recyclable at the end of it's life.

The Knighton 8250 mattress is exclusive to MyNextMattress, and is protected by a 10-year manufacturer's guarantee from Harrison Spinks. We will deliver the Knighton 8250 mattress to your room of choice with our 2-person crew. Offshore charges may apply.

    100%
    Very comfortable and Luxurious
Fells very nice and although i have the firm the soft pillow top actually gives it a 'medium' feel, mould to your body and feels very comfortable.

I kept coming across this company for this particular mattress that i wanted but I needed this in 'firm'. I then had a brainwave and asked them if they could supply it and they said yes. It was in my home delivered in a month! I searched for the right mattress for a long time and this is the ONLY website that was the most competitively priced for this Harrison Spinks mattress! Thank you.

    Great but heavy
The comfort and quality are excellent, but the mattress is quite heavy to manoeuvre. It’s a small issue for such a great product

  4. Sophia Richardson Says:
    100%
Perfect mix of softness and support
I love how the pillow top feels plush but doesn’t compromise on support. I sleep better than I ever have

Glossary

  • Breathability

Mattresses need to breathe. With the amount of fillings and areas of space within a mattress, they can quickly hold heat and moisture. Over time this can influence the way a mattress behaves and also effect the life span of a mattress.

Manufacturers have developed different ways of tackling the problem of Breathability in mattresses. Some brands have used vents to allow air to pass through the mattress. Some brands use state-of-the-art materials to cover the mattress, such as Coolmax or Outlast. Memory Foam has a reputation of storing heat and moisture, as foam requires heat to soften up.Memory Foam brands have overcome this problem by applying Coolmax and Outlast, they also use Open Cell technology. This technique is to simply allow the foam to settle with larger spaces between the foam cells. This allows heat and moisture to move freely without getting trapped.

Some mattresses are created in such a way that they do not require any additional Breathability methods. These mattresses are generally the entry level mattresses with Open Coil spring units and not a great deal of fillings.

  • Fibre Most mattresses will have layers of fillings under the surface to increase comfort and separate the spring units from the surface. The most common fillings used in mattresses are cotton, wool and polyester among others. Mattresses require fillings to create a soft surface tension on which to sleep. The fillings normally compliment the internal spring unit by adding comfort to the support offered (by the spring unit) The tension of the surface fillings can be tuned by the density in which they are packed as well as by the method in which they are bound together. Tufting results in a slightly firmer feel than quilting.
  • Fillings

The fillings of each mattress can differ from one another, but largely they include British Lambs Wool and Cotton. Some also feature Latex, Silk and Cashmere.

  • Firmness

MyNextMattress is developing a new and unique solution to the Firmness scale accuracy. Not seen anywhere else in the World, we will be measuring the Firmness of all our mattresses precisely and in detail.

We are the only company in the Country that will actually measure the Firmness of a mattress and give a grading out of 10. We are always aware that choosing your next mattress can be a difficult and time consuming process, therefore we strive to give as much information as possible on every mattress we sell.

The way our system works is by applying weight to a mattress. We will apply weight gradually and measure the amount the mattress dips. The more weight, the more the mattress will 'sink'. We would then measure the distance the mattress dips and plot these measurements (weight and distance) on a graph. This graph can then be used to tell us the Firmness category the mattress fits into, 7 out of 10 for instance.

Our Firmness Device provides a central rod which we apply weights to, on the bottom end there is a disc which pushes into the mattress. The top of this rod supports the weights and will sink according to the 'give' in a mattress. We measure from this point.

As a result of this unique technique, it will be possible for you to shop by the firmness of a mattress, this is not possible anywhere else.

  • Pocket Sprung

Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.

By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.

If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same.

  • Tufted

Tufting is a traditional and highly successful way of finishing a mattress surface. The end result makes the mattress appear to have dimples, or buttons dipping into the surface. This technique is designed to hold the surface materials together and to fix them to the core of the mattress to prevent the layers moving over time. A modern method is Spiral Tufting, which involves fixing the surface to the fillings and spring unit.

The actual tuft is usually made from a cotton felt material and is fastened by a cotton or wool chord to the spring unit, in most cases. A tufted mattress will normally have a firmer surface than a non-tufted/quilted surface. The reason for this is that the Tufting process actually holds the surface material and underlying fibre layers tightly together. This will create a tighter, firmer feel than a quilted mattress.

  • Tufts

This is the dimple like way of binding the various layers of the mattress together. A cord is fasted from the bottom of the mattress to the top, and held tightly in place.

  • Turn / No Turn

Some mattresses require turning over, to aid even settlement. Others do not require turning, but will still require rotating.
