Product Description
The Hypnos No Turn Harrow mattress is a new addition from the leading brand Hypnos, building on the many years of experience that this Royal Warrant holder has gained over the generations. This mattress is designed to offer all the comfort and support of combined with a superb price and the easy-care aspect of being no-turn. This mattress is pocket sprung and contains wonderfully comfortable and supportive natural fillings for a luxurious nights sleep.
Backed by a 10-year guarantee, this mattress is hand-built in Buckinghamshire and features intricate detailing. It truly stands as a testament to the skilled craftsmen and women at Hypnos. The No Turn Harrow mattress is perfect for those looking for luxury at an affordable price.
Hypnos No Turn Harrow Specifications
The Harrow mattress is built around an innovative ReActive Pocket Spring unit, but unlike other pocket springs on the market, this spring actually gets firmer as more weight is applied, enabling this mattress to instantly support the body and to do so perfectly. As some areas of the body carry more weight than others, they compress the mattress further, areas such as the hips and shoulders. As those areas press into the mattress further, the springs in that area will compress more. Hypnos' springs then start to get firmer, and so you can be assured that the support offered in those areas is exactly what is needed. The outcome is improved posture and, therefore, the preventing of pressure points from forming. The Harrow mattress' springs recognise 6 different levels of firmness and will adjust itself accordingly, ensuring support is always perfect and instant.
In addition, the Hypnos No Turn mattress has layers of luxurious, natural fillings. As there is only one sleeping surface, these layers can be padded more deeply than usual, increasing the comfort offered. These fillings include Cotton and Wool and are applied by hand to ensure evenness and consistency across the sleeping surface.
Hypnos have tufted the Harrow mattress to keep the fillings in place throughout its long lifespan. These tufts are created by sending a cord through the mattress, and it also acts to create a specific tension (medium in this case). There is also side stitching on the mattress, which makes the sidewalls stronger and increases the size of the comfortable sleeping surface. The mattress is finished in a silky smooth Cocona infused damask material, which is as tactile as it is natural, breathable and durable.
Furthermore, it also features breather vents and handles for easy movement when required so it is extremely flexible. Hypnos have finished this mattress with 2 rows of side stitched bordering for increased sidewall strength (which actually increases the size of the comfortable sleeping surface by 15% in a Double size).
Please note; whilst this is a no-turn mattress, it will still require rotating (spinning around) once per Season, although we recommend this is done weekly for the first two months.
Who Is This Mattress Best Suited For?
The No Turn Harrow is perfect for anyone wanting a traditional mattress but does not want to lift the mattress to flip it over. Unlike other no-turn mattresses, the Harrow is not a Pillow Top, and so the traditional nature of the construction and fillings will appeal to many. Furthermore, the natural fillings are excellent at heat management but are also great for preventing dus tmites and bed bugs.

I am disabled with serious back problems. As soon as a mattress sags a little my pain increases and I'm unable to turn a mattress by myself. Glossary
- Breathability
Mattresses need to breathe. With the amount of fillings and areas of space within a mattress, they can quickly hold heat and moisture. Over time this can influence the way a mattress behaves and also effect the life span of a mattress.Â
Manufacturers have developed different ways of tackling the problem of Breathability in mattresses. Some brands have used vents to allow air to pass through the mattress. Some brands use state-of-the-art materials to cover the mattress, such as Coolmax or Outlast. Memory Foam has a reputation of storing heat and moisture, as foam requires heat to soften up.Memory Foam brands have overcome this problem by applying Coolmax and Outlast, they also use Open Cell technology. This technique is to simply allow the foam to settle with larger spaces between the foam cells. This allows heat and moisture to move freely without getting trapped.
Some mattresses are created in such a way that they do not require any additional Breathability methods. These mattresses are generally the entry level mattresses with Open Coil spring units and not a great deal of fillings. - Fibre Most mattresses will have layers of fillings under the surface to increase comfort and separate the spring units from the surface. The most common fillings used in mattresses are cotton, wool and polyester among others. Mattresses require fillings to create a soft surface tension on which to sleep. The fillings normally compliment the internal spring unit by adding comfort to the support offered (by the spring unit) The tension of the surface fillings can be tuned by the density in which they are packed as well as by the method in which they are bound together. Tufting results in a slightly firmer feel than quilting.
- Fillings
The fillings of each mattress can differ from one another, but largely they include British Lambs Wool and Cotton. Some also feature Latex, Silk and Cashmere.
- Firmness
MyNextMattress is developing a new and unique solution to the Firmness scale accuracy. Not seen anywhere else in the World, we will be measuring the Firmness of all our mattresses precisely and in detail.
We are the only company in the Country that will actually measure the Firmness of a mattress and give a grading out of 10. We are always aware that choosing your next mattress can be a difficult and time consuming process, therefore we strive to give as much information as possible on every mattress we sell.
The way our system works is by applying weight to a mattress. We will apply weight gradually and measure the amount the mattress dips. The more weight, the more the mattress will 'sink'. We would then measure the distance the mattress dips and plot these measurements (weight and distance) on a graph. This graph can then be used to tell us the Firmness category the mattress fits into, 7 out of 10 for instance.
Our Firmness Device provides a central rod which we apply weights to, on the bottom end there is a disc which pushes into the mattress. The top of this rod supports the weights and will sink according to the 'give' in a mattress. We measure from this point.
As a result of this unique technique, it will be possible for you to shop by the firmness of a mattress, this is not possible anywhere else. - Hypoallergenic
Put simply, Hypoallergenic materials do not cause the amount of irritation that non-hypoallergenic materials can. Hypoallergenic materials can still cause irritation in some cases, the chances of this are reduced greatly. People with severe allergies and asthma may still have problems with items called hypoallergenic, but the risk is greatly reduced.
Hypoallergenic materials do not omit the same particles and fibres as other non-hypoallergenic materials. These particles are to blame for causing irritation and discomfort and in some cases the irritation can be dangerous. The Hypoallergenic properties of these materials can be created by number of techniques. Some materials (Memory Foam or Latex) are naturally hypoallergenic, others have been chemically treated. - Pocket Sprung
Pocket Sprung units are an adaption of the traditional open coil/continuous spring unit. By placing each spring in its own individual 'pocket' (a fabric sock-like pouch), the spring is not joined to any other part of the mattress. The pocket that supports the spring is then joined to its neighbouring pockets and this effect creates a unique feel.
By creating a spring unit in this way, it allows the springs to move independently, rather than sharing the pressure with surrounding springs. This effect allows for much more accurate contour following and a more comfortable feel overall.
If you were to push your hand into a traditionally sprung mattress, the area around your hand would dip/sink too. With Pocket Springs, this sunken area is much more remote and therefore more accurately follows the contours of the pressure source. There are differences in the techniques used to create Pocket Springs, but more or less they remain the same. - Tension
Another word for Firmness.
- Tufted
Tufting is a traditional and highly successful way of finishing a mattress surface. The end result makes the mattress appear to have dimples, or buttons dipping into the surface. This technique is designed to hold the surface materials together and to fix them to the core of the mattress to prevent the layers moving over time. A modern method is Spiral Tufting, which involves fixing the surface to the fillings and spring unit.
The actual tuft is usually made from a cotton felt material and is fastened by a cotton or wool chord to the spring unit, in most cases. A tufted mattress will normally have a firmer surface than a non-tufted/quilted surface. The reason for this is that the Tufting process actually holds the surface material and underlying fibre layers tightly together. This will create a tighter, firmer feel than a quilted mattress.
