Product Description
The Sealy Highwood mattress, the pinnacle of Sealy's Ortho Plus Collection — a hugely popular collection that showcases Sealy's firmest mattresses. For those in pursuit of unparalleled support or who prefer the firmer feel in their mattresses, the Highwood stands tall as the collection's premier offering. Beyond its firmness, what sets the Highwood apart in the market is its solid foundation built upon meticulous technical and medical research.
Holding the distinction of being the world's leading bed manufacturer, Sealy's reputation for delivering high-quality beds and mattresses is unmatched. The essence of the Sealy brand is the invaluable contributions of medical and health professionals who have played a pivotal role in the evolution and design of their mattresses for countless years. The Highwood is not just any firm mattress; it's an ingeniously crafted sleep solution that promises remarkable support, enhancing posture and minimizing the risk of aches stemming from pressure points.
At the heart of the Sealy Highwood mattress lies the renowned PostureTech spring system, effortlessly rendering superior support. This mesh design distributes body weight seamlessly and effectively, fostering optimal posture during sleep. Additionally, the Highwood boasts the specialized feature of PowerPack - Sealy's precision-engineered lumbar-focused support system. To further augment its structure, Sealy has incorporated the EdgeGuard support, bestowing the mattress with robust sidewalls, amplifying its durability.
This Sealy mattress is designed to be both turnable and rotatable, making it an excellent choice for those who cherish the feel of traditional mattresses. To ensure its longevity and uniform settlement, we advocate for turning and/or rotating it weekly during the initial post-delivery weeks. Thereafter, a quarterly rotation or turning is sufficient. The tufted design of the Highwood secures the surface layers with precise density, and Sealy has adorned this masterpiece with an exquisitely soft and plush cover fabric. Adding to its allure, the Highwood comes with a reassuring 5-year guarantee.

Glossary
- Firmness
MyNextMattress is developing a new and unique solution to the Firmness scale accuracy. Not seen anywhere else in the World, we will be measuring the Firmness of all our mattresses precisely and in detail.
We are the only company in the Country that will actually measure the Firmness of a mattress and give a grading out of 10. We are always aware that choosing your next mattress can be a difficult and time consuming process, therefore we strive to give as much information as possible on every mattress we sell.
The way our system works is by applying weight to a mattress. We will apply weight gradually and measure the amount the mattress dips. The more weight, the more the mattress will 'sink'. We would then measure the distance the mattress dips and plot these measurements (weight and distance) on a graph. This graph can then be used to tell us the Firmness category the mattress fits into, 7 out of 10 for instance.
Our Firmness Device provides a central rod which we apply weights to, on the bottom end there is a disc which pushes into the mattress. The top of this rod supports the weights and will sink according to the 'give' in a mattress. We measure from this point.
As a result of this unique technique, it will be possible for you to shop by the firmness of a mattress, this is not possible anywhere else. - Orthopaedic
Orthopaedic mattresses are usually the firmest mattresses on the market. A common mistake made by those with back pain, is to assume that a firm Orthopaedic mattress will be the solution. Personal comfort and a correct diagnosis of the cause of the pain should always be saught before purchasing an Orthopaedic mattress.
Many brands have 'Ortho' mattresses. Terms used include 'Backcare' or 'Orthocare' and the theme is generally to produce a firmer feeling mattress. The idea is to create a mattress that the body can rest on without sinking in and bending the spine, causing pressure to build up. However, if a lighter person lays on a firmer mattress, they will find the spine will not align correctly as the loaded parts of the body (shoulders, hips etc) are not sitting correctly. For more information on the causes of back pain, click here or read about another solution in the Zoning description. - Pressure Points
Pressure Points are created in the body when lying on a mattress which is not suitable for a persons physique. The Pressure Points are caused by putting stresses through the body. When the spine is not aligned correctly (i.e, straight), it can cause pressure to build up in the back, hips or shoulders (etc).
When a bed is too soft, the body sinks in, causing certain areas to be under the strain of the rest of the body. When a mattress is too hard/firm, then the weight applied can cause the body to flex/bend in the opposite way - causing a similar problem. Hips, shoulders and so on, are requried to be sunken into the mattress slightly more than the surrounding areas, as they carry the weight. When this is not the case, the lower back may be bent to compensate. The ideal mattress is one which will keep the spine straight. - Tufts
This is the dimple like way of binding the various layers of the mattress together. A cord is fasted from the bottom of the mattress to the top, and held tightly in place.
- Turn / No Turn
Some mattresses require turning over, to aid even settlement. Others do not require turning, but will still require rotating.
